I have a pair of regular (non-waterproof) Keen hiking boots, that are ankle height. And I love them! I have a pair of Keen steel toed shoes that I also LOVE... However, these Keen Women's Explore Waterproof hiking boots were no where the comfort rating of the other two pair of Keen's I have. They felt cheap, the sole was stiff and uncomfortable. I ended up returning them and going for a pair of Solomon's.
I was nominated by a family member for a pair of shoes recently. I am an ER nurse and have been scared and stressed out recently (as have we all). Receiving an email saying I was nominated for a pair of free shoes seemed too good to be true. All of the emotion that had been stewing up about recent events came out and I started crying happy tears (for a change) when I opened that email. I have been trying to be outdoors and in nature during this time of social distancing, and these boots have enhanced my hikes ten-fold! They are BEYOND comfortable. I cannot thank you enough for spreading a bit of joy during this difficult time. Thank you Keen!
Squirmed at the price, but wow! I have probably put 150 miles on these hiking various trails. Good traction, warm feet(huge on my list!) and better yet, DRY feet! So I tried them with my snowshoes - AWESOME! Warm, dry feet and minimal weight added to the snowshoes. 11” of snow, no problem. All year boot!
Great walking shoe seem warm and hopefully will keep me dry. Tread does not seem particularly great for hiking as not a lot of depth to it and a bit slippery at times. Great looking, not good for someone with a wide foot.
I've only worn them a handful of times, but I already love them! This is the 3rd pair (first pair of Keens) I've had to try in the past year. First pair was just your "cheap as you can find" pair from a BassPro shops. Uncomfortable and gave me a blister right away. Tried a middle of the road pair after that, still no luck. Then landed on these Keens! I have always heard good things about them, and decided I needed to try for myself. Looked great right out of the box, felt great, seems to be excellent construction, I have not noticed any wearing or rubbing in odd places on my feet. I'm so excited and hope I finally found the right pair of hiking boots!
Insole rock hard. Laces too short to tie. Not what was advertised.
These are possibly the most stylish hiking boots I have ever seen. I also like the footbed significantly more than the one that comes in the ridge flex hiking boots. However, these were extremely tight in the width. I usually have problems with shoes being tight in the width only if the length is too short. I loosened up the shoelaces in hopes that that would resolve the issue, but the shoe doesn’t have enough give. It would be nice if Keen could offer the same shoe in at least two different widths, since the shoes that are actually wider aren’t really my style. If you have narrow feet then definitely consider these!
Was excited to try a lightweight boot that is waterproof. I am not a fan of this style. It fit a lot more snug but felt like it would ease once I started wearing them outside more which I finials did a couple months after purchase when the big snow had melted. Within a week or so my heel started hurting and feeling strained and it’s taking a long time to feel normal again. Unfortunately a couple months time had passed from purchase date even though I hadn’t worn so I was out of luck for a return. My usual keen styles have a boxier toe(kaci styles)and have been great over the years. So not sure if the heel is narrow like the toe on this model or what?… buyer beware … would not recommend
This is my first pair of keens, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, and after reading the reviews about the fit after my order, I was concerned I made the wrong choice. Thankfully that wasn’t the case! It took a couple of days to break in but after wearing them on a long walk, now they are the most comfortable boots I own. I love that they are lightweight yet waterproof, and super easy to clean! I’m not sure what the other reviewers are referring to about them being too narrow; they fit my feet perfectly and I had pretty big flat feet. Would highly recommend, and plan on buying Keens again!
I purchased these for day-hikes or weekend-overnighters. The very first time I wore, my arch hurt, but after that day's break in they have been great! I have wore three days for a weekend backpacking excursion for approx 15 miles and they were great. Waterproof. The one think is the top laces that keep the top-most eye hooks closed over the ankle, somewhat dig into the top of foot / ankle area anytime I bend down. Not sure if this effects others, but for future iterations of this shoe - recommend pulling up fabric rather than relying on the laces to close!
