Awesome!!!

As the other commenter stated 3V is not stainless and you have to maintain it (all it takes is a little oil once an awhile), however, it is one of the best steels on the market for toughness and edge retention. This little knife is spectacular! You are getting a quality Benchmade with 3V at this price. Unbelievable!!! This is hands down the best bang for your buck Benchmade on the market. I could go on, but really, just do a few searches and I can attest to what the other positive reviewers say about this little knife. It really is that good.

Hey..It's a Benchmade...

Well crafted, designed and manufactured. This knife gets top 4.5-5star reviews all across the internet and YouTube. Not just from everyday users, but knife experts, sellers, reviewers etc. Excellent blade material super sharp and durable. The ONLY negatives I've seen is nitpicking about the sheath. I see it as a throw in so... maybe save up and get a better sheath.

Exceptional but not stainless

A note about the characterization of this knive’s steel as stainless rather than a proper review: CPM 3V is an ~exceptional~ steel but, it is NOT stainless so, it will need to be taken care of properly or it will begin to show signs of corrosion.

Glad this knife is in 3v steel. Great for camping or backpacking! Has great edge retention and is one of the toughest steels available.

Very useful Knife

I have allways wanted a PuuKKo but never pulled the trigger on a knife that is a bit of a novelty. This knife is all business with a boring blade shape that manages most tasks and a handle that is perfect for me. It suits me so well that it has found it's way into my kitchen knife collection and is a pretty good steak knife. Yes it will stain but I dont care. This is a sturdy knife with a thick spline that is prerfect for splitting kindling for fire starting but it is not a hatchet so don't buy it if what you really need a hatchet. The sheath has a leather loop so it hangs in the traditional Puukko manor which is interesting for a few minuites until you ditch the loop and thread it through your belt. There is no snap retention but the sticky rubber handle tends to stick the knife into the sheath. If you quickly pluck the knife from the sheath it releases easily but if you draw it slowly it gets stuck. Given the canoeing tradition for Puukkos some have cork handles so they will float. This one will sink but there is a lanyard hole in the top where you could add a float without intrerfearing with the function of the knife. Easily the most useful camping knife I posess.

Benchmade 200 Pukko Fixed Blade From REI

REI knowingly sold me a very dull knife. Someone went out of their way to dull this knife. A dull knife is a dangerous knife. Knives are neither good or bad. Knives respond to the actions of the user.

Lovely knife, garbage sheath.

Benchmark makes good knives. Unfortunately, I don’t have it anymore because the sheath, unlike the knife, failed to do its only job - secure the knife when it’s not in use. Now I am the disappointed owner of a sheath that is bladeless. Don’t buy this knife because all you’ll be left with is a sheath. The sheath never quite held the knife securely and as a result it fell out somewhere along a trail in the Snoqualmie valley. If someone finds it, I’d like it back - please. I give this product zero stars. Wonder if REI will replace it if I show up with the empty sheath?

CPM 3V

CPM 3V is a very high quality steel, but it is NOT a stainless steel. It will stain and/or rust if not taken care of properly.

Please sell blade blanks no sheet or handle

I wish Benchmade sold blade only so I could in Finish tradition build my handle out of Birch blur or Birtch bark myself. Puukko knives should not have this kind of handle then you might as well buy a Mora or ten for the same price as one of these.

Well balanced knife and easy to sharpen.

This knife is well balanced and easy to sharpen. The handle is not too thick. It's advertised with a sheath included with purchase. The sheath is trash. Throw it away and order a good one. I'm surprised Benchmade would use such a sorry piece of material.
