Not practical
Just got the SkinnyWarrior with the net for a roadtrip, but mostly ended up relying on a nylon strap to tie things down as I quickly got frustrated trying to use the stretch net. * Gets tangled way too easily * Much too loose for the SkinnyWarrior without furniture sized items * The holes are way too big Overall, would not trust it by itself and ended up just removing it entirely and used my nylon tie down. Gets tangled on everything and is difficult to manage for rooftop-loading. Perhaps it would be easier to secure something not so high up like a cargo carrier attached to a tow-hitch or truck-bed.
Easy tie down solution
Unlike other users, I don’t find this net tangles at all. The key is to take off all the hooks before using. I think manufacturer should put that in the instruction. The net shipped with 12 hooks already attached to the net at all the sides. I can see people frustrated try to untangle the net while the hooks kept catching on everything. I realized you can easily take the hooks off. And that’s what I did. I took all 12 hooks off the net, then drape the net over my cargo (veer stroller wagon and solo stove bonfire fire pit) then I start to attach each hook at the exact anchor point that I want them to be. It’s pretty easy to use. The big holes of the net also helped me to go around the object and tie down irregular shape cargo. At the end I didn’t even use up all 12 hooks that came with the net. The key is to take off the all the hooks before drape it over the cargo, otherwise you will find it tangles and catches on everything.
Not useful
Purchased the Yakima SkinnyWarrior and Stretch Net. The roof rack is fantastic. Perfect for side by side with 60" roof rails and a roof box. The stretch net is not useful and would not trust it to be reliable. Out of the box, it is difficult to use and tangles easily and can't differentiate front/back from sides (ultimately not sure if necessary, but initially thought it would be important since the rack is a rectangle). Once all of the hooks were attached, the net was very loose and needed to stretch the hooks to alternate attachment points on the underside of the rack. And still definitely wouldn't trust it to secure my Rubbermaid Action Packer boxes (and other items) in the rack, especially going 75 miles/hour down the freeway. Recommendation is to spend the same amount of money and purchase some good tie downs, which will allow travel with much greater confidence in the security of the load in the SkinnyWarrior.
Nothing but frustration
One of the absolute worst products I’ve ever attempted to use. This tangles very easily, when you need to use it , it takes forever if you untangle it before you have to leave. I just won’t even try anymore. Bad design, they could have used clips similar to a carabiner that is closed so at least it wouldn’t hang up on everything constantly, it would make untangling easier. As is , do not buy this, use tie downs, easy to use , multiple uses
