Big Agnes  Mica Basin Camp Chair

My first attempt to love Big Agnes was Skyline UL chair: good quality, but extra small for me. I m 6' 3" and 242 lbs. Today i recive Mica Basin Camp Chair. And I can say so-so. This is high chair and i can easy to sit and stand up, very wide in high parts, but seat inself is not wide then previous chair. I can sit but not for relax. Chair legs do not have tips for good fixation on the ground. Very expensive. No air mesh, this chair very warm. I use china brand chair by naturehike, it much more comfortable, but legs is broke under my weight

So, this review might be a tad long, but I spent some time researching specs of these chairs before deciding on this one so hopefully this review is helpful. For reference, I'm 5'4" and I initially bought this chair because I needed a compact chair for a class B RV trip we were taking. I was somewhat familiar with this type of chair as my son owns a Helinox Swivel and the husband an older REI Flexlite they use for backpacking. I decided on the Big Agnes because the height was close to normal chair height and it seemed slightly wider and taller than the similar Helinox model. The chair is easy to put together though getting the seat on the first few times took a little force, but after a few times of putting it together it got easier each time. It feels sturdy, is comfortable to sit in and so lightweight & portable that I started using it as my regular sports spectator chair vs the the larger picnic time director chairs I typically use & it hardly takes any space in my trunk. The ripstop zip carrying case is slightly longer/narrower than the Helinox case and is easy & light to carry with the end case handle. Chair is super comfortable too as the end of the chair doesn't dig into my hamstrings like typical camp chairs (this has been a problem for me). I can sit comfortably for long periods with no line under my thighs. For my frame, I could also easily have my arms rest in the chair at my sides, so I personally didn't miss arm rests. I used it for the first time camping too and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Even my 6'2" husband really liked the chair that he might borrow it for backpacking now especially since it weighs less than the REI Flexlite and Helinox versions we own. The only negative - no cupholder though we use a small table with our chairs for water bottles and it does easily topple over in the wind, but that applies to all these lightweight chairs. So, if you're looking for a chair that packs down small, is easy to setup & take down & move anywhere -- I highly recommend the Big Agnes Mica Basin. For size comparison with the Helinox and REI Flexlite, I added photos of all three chairs side-by-side. The Big Agnes is the lightest of the three. For me, the perfect height, the slight depth and width advantage made a huge difference in comfort. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Not cheap, but well worth it and is now my go to chair.

I tried several light weight chairs because I wanted a chair to take backpacking. Went to my local REI and tried a bunch of chairs and even bought a lightweight REI brand chair. After getting that chair home I found that it was a bit unstable and too low for me, being a large man. Checked around and bought this Big Agnes Mica Basin Chair because of the good reviews. Very happy with the purchase. It’s way more stable and comfortable than any other chair I’ve tried. Major plus’ are stability and seat height, way better than anything else I could find. Not the lightest or the cheapest chair you can buy, but the height and stability are worth an extra pound and the extra $$ to me. very happy with the purchase.

I searched hard for a packable chair that would support my 6" 4' and 260 frame. I loved the chairs offered by REI and went through them trying to get them to fit. Nothing against those chairs as they are a great value but they just we're not right for me. A trip to the Flagship store in Seattle where they had a full product line took me to the Big Agnes line. I liked the fact they had no plastic connections and that the back and legs locked in place. This makes the chair rock steady. When I sat in it the seat formed around my back allowing me to sit upright, lean over to cook or tie up my boots, lean back in a reclined position, but best of all allowed me to stretch out my legs without pressure on the back of the thighs. Simply put, it was darn comfortable. Knowing that it was also expensive, I kept thinking that it was the standard I would half all chairs to as it checked all the boxes for what I was looking for. As you can tell I left the store with one. Sitting in it later that night I fell asleep and woke up an hour later, best testimony ever as I did not fall out, have my legs fall asleep, and I honestly felt refreshed. I am glad to have made this purchase as it for my need, allows a big guy to have something other than a downfall or rock to sit on, and it was the end of a long search to find the right chair. I am darn glad REI offers it.

This is an awesome chair! Much thanks Big Agnus! I'm so stoked to own this chair. A year or two ago I really wanted a Helinox. I held off, now I'm so glad I did. A couple years ago for Christmas I recieved, as a gift, an REI Flexlite chair. It didn't work for me and I returned it. Found out recently that Big Agnus was making chairs and after reading up on them I ordered the Micah Basin for size, packability, and weight rating. I'm 6'2" 250 lb. This chair is perfect! I almost ordered the Big Six but decided that since I wanted a chair for backpacking adventures I'd try and save a little size and weight. The Micah Basin is easy to assemble and doesn't require a lot of strength to assemble. It's comfortable for me to sit in and because of the wide base is much sturdier than the Flexlite chair. I felt a little tipsy in the Flexlite. Chair feels very strong and secure. I am very happy with my purchase thus far and look forward to using this chair as much as possible.

Just got this chair. I’m a bigger fellow. 6’5” 225lbs. This chair is not the lightest. It’s light, but there are lighter ones. I’d let the lighter weight small bodied people go with those. This chair may be a tad heavier but comfort and stability for me far outweigh the weight. It’s not bad at all. You want to buy a camp chair once? Buy this one. Sit in and see for yourself. Got mine at the REI store and it was $86 on sale. This packs away really nicely in or on my backpack. It’s also a great chair for spectators. It’s great for my daughters volleyball games. I’ll be taking this thing to some outdoor concerts etc. The quality of this thing is top notch. Very easy to set up. Might take 45 seconds. Really glad for this purchase.

After some extensive treking and hunting, it felt great to plant myself in my new Big Agnes chair while still in the middle of nowhere. For its size and weight, it was rock solid to kick back in.It took a few trys to figure it out but with practice it did not become an issue. It's lightweight. It beats sitting on a cold rock or log. We have many more hunts together.

I weigh over 300 lb and this chair holds my weight fine. Seems like I am bringing it to the limit but it has been solid so far.

This Big Agnes chair is beyond expectations. I am a disabled Veteran with spine problems. This chair is so comfortable on my back. It is so easy to put together and take apart. I would, and will, buy another one!!
