Perfect for making your dog visible at night.
I bought the NiteHowl for our short haired dog to be more visible for walking at night. It's bright and visible at night and is easy to slip on and off once you trim it to fit. I also bought a NiteHowl Max for our Mini Aussie and wish I would have just gotten the Max for both of them. The Max has a longer battery life and is wider and brighter. I get about two weeks worth of battery with the Max and one week with the regular NiteHowl. That's walking them for an hour a day. Overall, I'm very happy with both of them but I like the Max the best and would get that one again.
Perfect for Party Pups
I've been using this collar for two years and bought an additional one for my poodle puppy. I've received multiple compliments and even got some of my friends to buy one for their dogs. I love the bright multi-color glow, it really stands out. The battery life lasts me a couple of walks and I charge it maybe once a week. My dogs have a neck size of 12" so I didn't have to cut the collar to size, it fits them fine looped just as it came. I like it better this way since it gives the collar a cool effect. I use mine for night walks, walking near streets and traffic and when my dog is playing with others. It keeps them visible and has other solid color settings like green, blue, and red so you can have up to four dogs wearing different color codes making each identifiable from a distance. In the winter I use it most when it gets darker earlier. I bring it with us on trips and vacations and lots of people stop to ask where I got it from. I've personally never had an issue of it coming undone and mine still have the port rubber cover in tact. I can barely tell which of my two is the older one, that's how good they hold up. I've seen the other solid color ones before but this one is the best by far it's more versatile and fun. I use a lot of Nite Ize products but this one is by far my favorite. Pair it with the multi-color glow ball if you like playing fetch in the dark. I've tried a few other glowing collars but so far this one has been the brightest and most durable. It deserved a review.
Like Glow Sticks for a Party!
We love our safety collars and the dogs get so many compliments when they're in "party mode" with the multi colors. The multi color makes it easy to spot them at the dog park when other dogs also have something glowing on. The charge holds for at least a week of heavy use, and it's just a basic USB cable to charge so we can charge them in the car on the way to the trailhead if we forget. Only negative is they come apart when the dogs are playing. We have gone through two already this year, and at $20 each it's starting to get expensive. I think we're going to try duct tape where the battery piece connects to the tubing once we have them sized.
Great for early mornings!
We bought this last fall to use with our new, lab pup, as my wife walks him early around 5am. We first tried to just put it over his head, but as a pup he wasn't having it and would try to either shake it off or eat it. As he got bigger, we bought a harness which we really like and wove the light through it. With the reflective trim on the harness, this makes for a highly visible combo. As you can see from the photos, we cut the light "tube" which is actually solid material and secured it with elastic bands. This has since been upgraded with some velcro. This will allow us the option of opening or closing the light as needed to either adjust it or charge it. Once the dog stops growing, we can better cut it to fit. Overall, it's been a great light and we usually get at least a week or more on a charge with about 30 to 45 minutes of walking each morning. We've had it through the winter and it's gotten very wet, also with no problems.
Best light until it doesn’t charge
When this light works it’s the best, but it doesn’t last. We have a black lab that always hard to see, even with the clip on single lights. This light allowed us to see her so well. Unfortunately, we’ve gone through 3 of these. It just stops charging after the second or third use. We probably got 2 good uses for each one we’ve had. Totally bummed but for a $20 dog light, I don’t think it’s worth it.
Comes Off Easily!
The LED is nice and bright, and the variable colors options and rechargeable battery are great. Easy to adjust size, but it's permanent since you cut the collar; you can resize it again but only downward maybe for another smaller dog. What is very disappointing with this product is that if it gets tugged or snagged on something it can easily come undone and fall off. I've tried to secure the collar with white duct tape, but that didn't work well. Regret buying 2 of them before learning this design flaw.
Demo mode drains battery, otherwise find
At first, I thought the Nitehowl Safety Collar had short battery life, but it's the demo mode with all the changing colors that drains the battery. Stick to one color at a time and you should get better battery life. I use this product to make my dog more visible at night. We play in the yard at dusk and there is a road nearby. (Kids, in general, seem to think my dog is pretty cool when he wears it too)
Nice light but won’t hold charge after 2 months
While this light has some nice aspects to it—it’s easy to turn on/off and cycle through the lighting options, the multi-color red light option looks nice, and it’s easy to adjust. However, I bought this collar around two months ago, and only really started using it often around three weeks ago. It held a charge well for about two weeks, but now I can only get about 20 minutes of lighting before the battery dies ( this after numerous overnight charges). For one of the most expensive lights on the market, I’d expect better battery life.
Safety Necklace
Love this product for night walking. Super bright light & love that it’s rechargeable.
Note Howl LED collar
Great high visibility item for your pet.
