Correction to Earlier Review
This is a correction to my review from last week. (I called SmartWool and asked if they could delete my inaccurate review, but no one knew of a way to do that, FWIW.) I did not realize this was meant as a warm-weather gaiter, I thought the SmartWool gaiters were all the same aside from length. So my bad and my apologies on that one. That said, this is a, light (1 oz.) gaiter for - at least in my use - temps in upper 40sF and up - early fall and spring. Caveat if you're looking for a dedicated, cold-weather winter gaiter - get the one labeled as "Thermal" which is 2 oz. I found this one does not block wind very much if at all, it is fairly air-porous in fact but as I say would be fine for the temps above. Construction is good. With proper care I'm sure it will last as long as my others which are going on about 10 years now.
I have bought two of these, they are absolutely fantastic
This is not a neck gaiter that you use to cover your chin and mouth when skiing, this is a neck gaiter that takes the place of a Turtleneck and doubles as a hair band apres ski. It's a fabulous find, I use it with crew neck smartwool long Johns and a smartwool sweater. Then I put on my ski suit and a fleece neck gaiter that has a thin cap which I wear under my helmet. Perfect layers for northeast snow sports!
Wouldn't stay up during skiing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked the weight and quality of this neck gaiter but I couldn't seem to make it work for me. While skiing it wouldn't stay up they way I needed it to. I gave it to my husband and sons to try out. They also prefer lighter neck warmers than I do anyway. Although I'm entering the sweepstakes, this is an honest review. #sweepstakes.
This is a must have!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I take this everywhere with me! I initially bought it to use as a balaclava on my cold and windy winter hikes in the mountains. Its everything I expected and more. Warm, soft, comfortable, and breathable. Sometimes I forget to take it off when I'm home. LOVE IT!!!
Solid lightweight gaiter for biking in the rain
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Solid lightweight gaiter for biking in the rain. I live in Portland, OR, where it lightly drizzles almost every day, and this is perfect for a little bit of warmth, or pull it up over my mouth/beneath my helmet for those really cold mornings.
Need a lighter weight gator?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a promo option and I think I'm going to like it a lot for its versatility. It's a lightweight wool, large enough to use doubled over as a somewhat warmer cap or as is for a lighter weight head cover.
Soft and lovely but too large
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] nice color, lovely weight and soft but way too big to keep my neck warm. I have a long neck and it is not thick so perhaps this would fit someone else but it just laid around my collar bone.
Perfect merino gaiter for doing my yard work.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the merino nest gaiter. Its a bit more snug but I dont mind that. The snugness will keep the gaiter from sliding down. #sweepstakes
Just what I've been looking gor
I work on a playground, and have been looking for something light weight, and not bulky, but warm. This fits the bill perfectly.
