Sleek shoes for rainy days
Form and function really come together well in this little miracle of shoe making. I am no fan of carrying various shoes for different occasions around with me, and the Ella is a great all-rounder: The black matte leather makes them look classy enough for business outfits and laid back enough for any outdoor outing. This is a great everyday shoe, especially on rainy days. I've worn them both with and without socks and find them quite comfy either way. My go-to slip-ons used to be TOMs but the Ella beats them being waterproof and looking just slightly more fancy. They are even lighter than I expected and fit true to size. They might get a little tight on the upper for people with wider feet.
Impressively comfortable and timeless style
I have the black color and it is beautiful in person. I am normally a 7.5 in Sorel shoes (narrow feet and low instep) but I had to go up 1 full size to 8.5 because the toe box in the 7.5 was too tight and the throat of the Slip-On was a snugger fit than I prefer. That said, this pair will securely hold your feet in because of the throat being further up the foot, no worries about your heeI popping out. I wear thin no show socks with these. The footbed is so comfortable and thick and squishy (it's removal but why would you?) The style is timeless and works dressed up or down. Very versatile and they hold up in wet weather. You will love this shoe, just order at least a half size bigger than normal.
Comfort shoes!
When unboxing these shoes, they first reminded me of TOMS wannabes. But once I tried it, there are differences. First the material of the shoes is WATERPROOF! I like the loop at the back of the shoe since it was easy to slip on and slip off the shoe with ease. Once I stepped into these shoes, I felt like I was walking on a yoga mat. They were so comfortable, but more arch support would have been nice. I've been having some foot problems, and wearing these helped alleviate the heel pain I was having. Although I usually use a 7, I would purchase these flats a half size smaller since the material seemed to stretch and loosen with wear. As with all flats, the back of the shoe rubbed the back of my foot, which was unfortunate. Other than that I feel like these are a go to slip-on for casual outings or perfect for wearing at home!
Great everyday shoe
PROS: These shoes are super comfy and a great combo of style and function. The black color is matte and perfectly casual but dressy enough to wear to a jeans day at work. The fact that they are waterproof makes them perfect for the unpredictable Rocky Mountain climate where I live. The materials are high quality and even after walking quite a bit in shoes that are snug, I didn’t have any blisters (I usually do the first few times I wear a pair of slip ones). CONS: They run small. My feet are slightly narrow and I usually wear either an 8 or 8.5. I ordered these in an 8.5 and wish I would have gotten a 9. They are still comfortable but I can tell the arch isn’t in the right place and socks are not an option. For somebody with slightly wider feed, I may even suggest going up an entire size. This is a light support shoe which I’m ok with but if you need something with better arch support, this shoe is probably not for you.
Great shoe!
I have been looking at these for a while and finally ordered them . I was concerned about getting the right size since some reviews said they ran small. I ordered a half size up from my usual 9 and they fir well. The remarkable thing is that they get more comfortable as you wear them. At first the foot bed felt a bit hard but as I wear them they seem to be comforting to my feet and getting softer. I usually want to shed my work shoes when I get home but not these! If you are on the fence, go for it! And they are water proof! Win win!
Exceptional Flat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Like many other women, I have been on the long search for a comfortable flat. Five years ago I bought my first pair of Sorel boots - the Joan of Arctic. It is the most comfortable shoe I own, supporting my arch and heel to be able to work on my feet for 10-hour days. I have since tried (many) other Sorel boots and am loyal to the brand. I finally decided to try this flat and am so very glad I did. I experienced what others have said - it took some time to stretch out across the vamp. However, it is so very comfortable in the footbed and in the leather, it is worth the break-in. I did buy my normal Sorel size with no trouble in fit.
Comfortable but sizing can be tricky
I love this shoe. I will say, the toe is a little narrower than I expected but my feet feel good in them (without socks). These shoes do take a couple of days to break in (because of the leather) so be prepared for that as well. I typically wear an 8.5 in Sorel boots, but a 9 in Sorel sandals. For this shoe, I went with the 8.5 and it fits. I also recommend preemptively putting band-aids on your heels while you are breaking them in. I feared that maybe these would be shoes that constantly rubbed my heels, but it only took a couple days of wearing them and stretching for everything to be fine. Now I have no problems. They also have good arch support.
Love Love My Ellaâ„¢ Slip-On Shoes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sorel really hit the jackpot with this classy slip-on shoe! Especially, its special designed padded insert that makes these shoes so super comfortable. I hope Sorel considers using this padded insert in their boots! I purchased Rose Gold, and I love the color and the leather is soft; it goes with everything. I hesitated, but I went ahead and purchased my true size, an 8.5. I’m glad that I did because they fit perfectly! I can even wear a shoe liner sock and you can’t see it. I’m super happy with my purchase! My husband even complemented me when I wore them — he never notices my shoes! I’m considering ordering in another color!
Camel color not as pictured, otherwise good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ordered two pairs of these, one in Alpine Tundra, the other in Camel Brown. The Alpine Tundra color is beautiful, but unfortunately the Camel Brown is very different than pictured - it's much more of a mustard yellow, which is not what I wanted at all. The fit of the two shoes was also different - the footbed is the same, but the Camel Brown (which are leather) felt much tighter than Alpine Tundra (suede). This is likely because the leather will stretch, so I would not recommend sizing up unless you normally do in Sorels. Overall I'm happy with these shoes, having gotten them during a significant sale. If the Camel color was as pictured I would have kept both!
Super light weight loafer wears like a comfortable slipper!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have several colors both leathers and suedes. I found that I needed my regular shoe size as my heel slipped with sizing up. Suedes seem a little looser fit. Caution that I found some inconsistencies in the same size running 1/2 size larger and smaller which I needed to swap out. Am on the fence about the black nubuck as heel is stiff and worry about rubbing due to tougher leather. Super cute loafer and good cushioning support that I have come to expect from Sorel. Would recommend - I have 5 colors!
