Get It, It's Worth It
I wasn't sure about the $75 price tag but I'm a sucker for good design, and Brompton has done it again. This is a great accessory for any Brompton bike owner. It's a very small package that has what you need to fix a flat or any light maintenance on your Brompton. I was first blown away at the tiny package and that it fits directly into the bike frame itself. No need to have a saddle bag unless you just prefer it to be there. For the tools being made of metal, it still doesn't weigh a whole lot. Unless you're cutting down ounces to your setup, I'm sure there are lighter alternatives. Everything fits neatly into the metal sleeve that it comes with and that the tools are very much premium tools. The ratchet is a ratcheting system and the tire irons have magnets that can keep them together. Fantastic product and worth the $75 investment.
A quality tool, clever design, but...
I received this toolkit as a gift and it is, overall, a quality piece of equipment which integrates nicely into a Brompton's [many] idiosyncrasies. However, I have learned not to rely on the tire levers. They're too small to remove the Schwalbe tires that came on the bike without an undue exertion of effort. Also, running metal levers around the rims doesn't seem advisable. I have a set of Pedro's levers and a conventional patch kit in a bag with my spare tube and that's all you need to add for a nice day-tour. The only other consideration is the slight inconvenience of having to open the frame and "assemble" the tool to make a minor adjustment versus grabbing a multi-tool for a quick tweak in much less time.
Brompton Tool Kit is NOT Compatible For a T line
This tool kit is NOT for a T Line, unfortunately. Note that it includes a 15mm socket for removing the F/R axle nut when removing a tire with a flat, for instance. But the T Line uses a 5mm Allen/Hex key to remove the skewer/axle, NOT a socket. The other A, C & P lines DO need a 15mm socket. I am guessing Brompton will eventually transition to the Allen/Hex key for all lines, they won't tell customers this tho, thus this tool kit will eventually become obsolete in the future.
Well thought out Tool with EVERYTHING you need for
LOVE this tool! I am a bike tech and hate leaving home without the necessary things for "Just in Case" this or that... This tool kit has everything I need (except a chain tool..oh well...) I need for my daily rides. A chain tool would be the only thing I would add for a biek tour. Very well thought out and I love how it fits INSIDE the frame!!
Peace of mind for Brompton owners!
If you own a Brompton, this is the perfect toolkit. It has all the tools you need to do tire repair, most mechanical adjustments and repairs on the road. It hides in the front frame tube and does not fall out when the bike is folded. A bit pricey, but it has quality components and is well designed.👍🏻
Convenient & (nearly) complete
Yes, this kit is expensive. Now, with that out of the way… It has just about everything you’ll need for on the road repairs, and stows conveniently out of sight in the frame tube. It’s always there, ready for when you need it. Also, the component quality is good - not quite like SnapOn, but close. Two tips: 1. Out of the box, there’s only one glueless patch stored in the tool. Slide the remainders under either the tire levers, or ratchet, then put the cover back on. Also, we’re heard that they don’t work so well in temperatures below 6ºC (~42ºF). Carry a spare tube in that situation. 2. Some folks have complained about the lack of leverage/hand pain caused by the shortness of the box end wrench when removing the nuts fastening the rear tire. If this is your case, leave the wrench in the toolkit with the aluminum sleeve on. Should provide a bit more surface area to distribute the pressure. Considering going on tour with your Brompton? This tool has to be on your packing list.
Expensive piece of mind
Wouldn’t want to be without this toolbox out on the road. It’s got what you need to get back to your bike ride. Brompton has through of everything!
