Yes this is a spool of titanium foil. Nothing is going to block the wind better. If you need this for your stove, then you need this for your stove. It's not a right/wrong proposition. Just an effective option.

Paper thin, ultralite but not for a cansiter!

If you don't already know, this is only for an esbit or alchohol stove, never a canister as the canister can then overheat and explode. Also, esbit/gas stoves are not allowed (illegal) on most West Coast trails including the entire PCT. This is as thin as heavy duty aluminum foil and costs 500% more. Why not just use a folded piece of tin foil with a holes punched in at the bottom and call it a day? Because this is smooth and looks store bought. I got a nasty paper cut on mine and it blew away in the wind....but, to each their own.

Durable and

I bought this windscreen for use with a homemade alcohol stove of the "fancy feast" variety. I had made homemade windscreens before out of aluminum foil, however the heat from the stove burnt holes in it, proving to be ineffective. Because this is made of titanium, it is much more durable and while it gets quite hot, red hot in some spots, it discolors but does not burn. It is also very easy to modify, which I did so it fit inside my pot. It doesn't require a closure system because of its length and the way it coils around itself. All in all it is a good product that's easily modifiable to the specifications of your pot, all you need is a razor blade, ruler, and marker. The edges will be sharp, so either sand them or be careful. While modifying I never once sliced myself.

Underrated

I initially was not that impressed by this windscreen. Having used it a few times now, I'm starting to come around. It is very thin and light, seemingly too much so. A couple of paperclips will keep the ends of the foil together. Tent pins or sticks might be required to keep the thing from blowing away. But it does the job well if you choose the right cook set to use it with. The windscreen is about 4.5 inches tall. You'll need a cup/pot without handles or ones that are higher than that while atop your cooker. Overall, very happy with it.

Lightweight and effective

I use this when I carry my tiny alcohol stove or solid fuel stove. It is super lightweight and very effective against the wind.

Stoves are fine on PCT

Happy Feet is incorrect. Stoves are just fine on West Coast trails inc. the PCT. This product is a windscreen. It works well. Be careful out there.

Super Lite Weight and Tough

I got this for use with an alcohol stove set up as I got tired of constantly replacing the homemade tinfoil ones. I make tea every morning and night with this, so I was going through a lot of tinfoil, lol. It works great! Add a couple of small paper clips to keep it closed, and it has no problems staying in place, even in a stiff breeze (tested to about 10mph). It fits perfectly around my GSI kettle, which is 6.1" diameter. If your pot is much bigger, you'll probably need to find something else. The edges are about as thick as a piece of construction paper, so bit of caution is in order to avoid giving yourself the equivalent of a nasty paper cut, but the slight risk is well worth the durability and/or weight savings it gives compared to other options I've tried.

While I believe these will block the wind effectively and weighs nothing…. I think this is unbelievably DANGEROUS!!!! It is. A coiled up razor blade that if you make one mistake it will cut you so deeply it’s terrifying!!! I will not be using this. Needs a major safety warning label …

Yeah, Titanium *Sounds* Cool, But...

Doesn't really unroll for use; I had to re-roll it inside-out to remove the "set" that the strip has taken. Doesn't fit in the stuff sack.

Good little wind bread

Tough little wind break. Use a paper clip to hold it together when wrapping it around the stove so it stays in place. Would be 5 star if a clip was included. Works great on my low profile pack stove.
