Great all around ice climbing tools.

My son said he wanted to try ice climbing and even though I hadn't climbed in over 10 years, we went out to a local spot with my 'ancient' black diamond tools. He loved it so I decided to get new tools and after researching them I decided to try these from Petzl. (even though I've always been a huge fan of BD) We both loved them! So, whenever we did multi-pitch climbs, one of us had to use the old set. I just purchased another pair of these for my son and can't wait to get out this coming winter! I also bought a pair of Ergonomics for the steeper climbs the end of the season last year. What I love is that all the accessories for Petzl tools are interchangeable.

love it

This was my first axe purchase. Before these I’d borrowed friends’ older and extra pairs to use ice climbing. I’d used some really old straight ones with no leash (best grip workout out there) and the nicest was a pair of new Grivel Tech Machines (also a nice axe but a little heavier and different weight distribution). I used these Petzls this past January on a local set of falls, the tallest being 80 some feet. Let me just say I love these axes. The swing felt so easy and natural. They seemed to cut through ice like butter and stuck on the first swing the majority of the time. The overall weight and distribution is perfect. I don’t think there could be a better axe out there. Highly recommend!
