Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

I like the look of this jacket, minus the stain it came with, and it’s kepping me warm so that’s nice. However, if I had ANY other options I would return it for a better fit. I’m 5’11” and the sleeves just barely get to my wrists and the length is acceptable at best. I’m so tired of having to buy the largest sizes in everything in hopes of it being long enough. PLEASE GET LONGER CLOTHING. TALL GIRLS ARE OUTDOORS TOO!
I get so sick of outdoor companies offering women’s clothing in horrendous pastels. Apparently most of these companies think we want to look like Easter eggs on the mountain! I love the color offerings of this jacket most of all, but it also is great quality with a flattering fit! Thank you REI for recognizing that not all women want to adorn themselves in lavender and pink for our outdoor pursuits! For reference I am 5’3”, 118 pounds and the xs fits well. It is long enough to cover my hips for warmth and the sleeves are just a touch long, which for warmth purposes is what I like.
I ordered the jacket online, from what I could tell from the pictures it looked like a good fit. The colors are nice, the cut is nice and feminine. I'm 5 foot 11 inches tall of average built, narrow waist and broad hips, I ordered the extra large because often times I have trouble closing jackets at the hip. Well, it is so short it didn't even reach down to my hips and despite the narrow-waist looking cut it was super baggy. And as always, the arms were just a bit too short as well. REI should implement tall sizes, not just make things baggier as the sizes go up. Sadly I will be returning the jacket.
I originally ordered a Large because medium was sold out. Large was very big on me. Luckily, a medium was restocked. It came in and fit so much better. There really is a big difference between sizes. I’m 5 feet and weigh around 145. (Muscular athletic build with large chest). Medium fit perfectly. I can fit layers under it still. I contemplated a small but now that the medium came in I think a small would have been way too tight. I wore this jacket outside all day yesterday in the 30 degree weather with only a fleece vest under it and a base layer. I was plenty warm and even had to unzip at times when I was moving around. Definitely recommend.
With a muscular but petite built, I find that most down jackets are either too big for me (Patagonia) or occasionally to narrow for my shoulders (Mountain Hardwear, ArcTeryx) or fit too straight to move in comfortably skiing or cycling. Very pleasantly surprised w the fit of this one. It’s perfect, roomy in shoulders and chest for good arm movement, fitted enough in the body so I don’t drown in it, and fitted just so in the waist w room to layer. For women w larger hips I assume this will not be a good fit, however. High quality fill, yet feels lightweight, the stitching pattern of the jacket offers a flattering/athletic look. Best women’s down REI has made in years! For size reference, I’m 5’5”, 115lbs and bought an XS. (muscular shoulders but am pretty straight otherwise, no real bust or hips). Fit w room to spare for layering.
I have a dissenting opinion to offer. I saw it at REI for $100 as 15 Fahrenheit weather hit Minnesota and jumped at the opportunity. It's a nice fit, if slightly less smooth looking than Patagonia etc. I am 14-16 in size and XL fit perfectly. I wore it for a better part of one afternoon and kept tugging at bits. The top of the zipper was digging into my chin. The jacket periodically made a crunchy sound like candy wrapper. I losened, tightened, and losened the lower edge cinch, but other hiking up above my waist with slightest move. It was annoying while inside and freezing when outside. You would absolutely need another warm piece around your hips, ideally up to your boobs. They can be had, but for that price it's a better idea to just get a higher end parka.
I'm a gear designer by trade, for me to buy at full retail it has to be off-the-charts good. Kudos to you REI, this is my first ever purchase of an REI piece! I was ready to pony up the $$ for Arcteryx, but in the end this jacket won my heart!
This jacket is amazing: light-weight but goose-down warm, packable, comfortable, water resistant. Good for hiking and always attractive to wear. Available in several colors. I first bought the medium but felt it was too snug, so exchanged it for a large, which works for me. I am female, 5'6, 135 lbs. I highly recommend this jacket!
I was a little skeptical buying a jacket with “0” reviews, but I am SO pleased with this purchase that I wanted to write a review. First of all, I want you to know I am a “research before purchase” type of person. I compared this jacket to 6 other name-brand jackets and REI Magma 850 came out the winner! 850 fill-power…WOW!!! And thank you REI for using “certified” down (RDS). First things first, I was ONLY interested in purchasing a “pack-in-own-pocket” type of jacket. (Beware, not all lightweight down jackets are packable.) This jacket folds into the two-toned, left-hand pocket and it has a loop that is carabiner ready. I am 5’4” tall, 120lb and ordered a medium because I do not like tight fitting jackets, plus I wanted the flexibility to wear a sweatshirt or sweater underneath and CAN do so. Very pleased with the 26” back length and it comes just about to my tailbone (I’m average torso). When I raise both my hands up, the jacket comes up and when I put my hands down, the jacket goes right back to its starting position. No need for me to pull it back down. The ripstop fabric, Pertex Quantum WITH Diamond Fuse, is amazing! The Quantum part makes it soft and light and the Diamond Fuse makes it durable and highly abrasion-resistant. This fabric has impressive wind resistance, water resistance, and breathability ratings, too. (Some jackets out there do NOT have ripstop fabric, so I would be leery of purchasing!) I did not initially start out looking for a down jacket with a hood, but reading so many reviews on other jackets, lots of women wished their jacket HAD a hood, so that is another reason why I picked this jacket. And the fact that this jacket has a hood “with a rear adjustment” that is tucked into its own little garage is perfect! I love the pattern and style of this jacket, the color block is unique (I bought Nightsea), variable baffles is genius, chin and hand pocket garages for zippers are appreciated, as is the drawcord hem (releases are on sides). Most jackets I researched had “external” elastic cuffs, so not sure if I would prefer internal cuffs or not, but I guess time will tell. FYI, when I tried on the jacket (over and over because I could not believe how light weight it was!), I did NOT end up with feathers on my clothing. I live in Texas so now have to wait a bit longer before I can wear this hoodie to truly test how this jacket performs in cold and windy weather. But backed by a 1-year 100% satisfaction guaranteed return policy, I am not stressed about waiting.
Wow is all I can say about this jacket. First of all, I bought it on sale. Half off and it is defiantly worth the sale price. It was not was I was intentionally going to buy but I needed a down jacket since I do not own until now. I am so pleased and happy with my purchase. I compared this down jacket to Mountain Hardware, Arcteryx, and Maummut and I would choose this one in a heart beat. The price is really killer and amazing. I love that it is 850 filled down. Other brand names have not had that much down in it and charge way more. It is abrasive resistant and waterproof. It pretty much has more features than other down jackets offer. Folding into its own left pocket, adjusting on the bottom to keep wind out, and even a back of the hood adjustment is awesome. I would totally 100% recommend this jacket! I bought the black because all my other jackets I own are not black. I am 5’2 148 lbs and bought a medium even with room to layer.
