Basic tarp that really should come with the tent
This is a basic tarp that fits under the Base Camp tent. It serves its purpose. It should be included with the tent, since it is necessary to protect the tent floor and can't be used with any other tent. Selling it separately for $60 (it's just a tarp!) is not customer-friendly.

didn't fully cover the tent underneath
I made sure I got the right model for the tent, but it was short on two sides. The tent hung over the footprint and was not fully protected. Also, the footprint was not weather resistant. We went camping in PNW with good weather, though damp ground as is typical save for one month in the summer. I had to put a tarp underneath the tent and footprint to keep moisture from seeping through the floor. Given I had to buy the footprint separately, I would have paid more for better quality.

Very Nice Footprint

I bought this during the anniversary sale when it was 30% off, and for that price I think the tarp is okay. As a member of rei I really feel like this should have been included with the tent, but it is still okay I guess. Not customer friendly though... Either way it is a really nice addition to the Base Camp 6, when I didn't have this I felt that the floor might ripe due to sharp objects. Now it feels like it is three times stronger than before. It fits with the tent perfectly, it also isn't full tent length so that water can't get between the tarp and tent. Overall very nice footprint.

Kept the rain away!

We used this with the Base Camp 6 for the first time on a 2 night weekend in the woods. The first night started with 6+ hours of steady rain followed by several hours of downpour. We set up the tent with the footprint - the two cross poles on the tent can attach to both the tent grommet and the footprint grommet at the same time - this kept the footprint centered and taut under the tent. We used the stakes to keep the tent taut and keep the rain fly as far off the tent as possible. We got no rain in order under the tent all night. The footprint being slightly smaller than the exact outline of the tent means that no rain can collect on the edge of the footprint and run under the tent, or drop off a poorly secured fly onto the footprint. Despite all the rain, water did not creep up through the footprint and tent floor all weekend, even under the air mattress. It's lightweight and can be rolled up into the bag with the tent, though its a tight fit even before the footprint.

Should be included with the Basecamp 6 tent.

The footprint fit and it is nice to have the color coded straps to align with the tent. That said, the footprint should be included with the tent.

A must-have for the base camp tent

It's perfect! It tells you which side is up, which side is front, and is color-coded with the poles. Worth every penny, and honestly should just come with the tent! Keeps the tent clean, but loses a star because it is rather difficult to clean and sap clings to it far too easily..

Good for the Tent plus more

We have a tarp that we lay down that would have worked, but I got this in addition to some adjustable tarp poles so this could also double as an awning if we were just sitting around the car. Haven't really had the chance to use this because we are in the winter season, but we will. Also got this on sale along with the Base Camp 6, so for the price I think it's great.
