Great but missing a few key features

I love this coat. Warm and stylish. High quality. I love that is long enough to cover my bum and upper legs (key for staying warm for me). Though warm, it isn't supper bulky or stiff. I use this coat for weather ranging from 20-50 degrees (F) on the east coast (I opt for my down jacket when it gets colder) or I wear my puffy vest under it. However I wish it zipped up higher so there would be more warmth around the neck. I have to wear a scarf with this coat on cold days. The drawstring in the hood also does not stay cinched, so that doesn't help when it's windy. I also think an internal chest pocket and wind blocking wrist cuffs would be nice. I bought the small (5'5" with broad shoulders) but it is big enough to wear layers underneath.

Warm, but had a sizing issue

I wanted to love this jacket. The warmth and style were great. However, at 5'7", the size medium's sleeves were far too short. I think this jacket could also benefit from a two-way zipper and a bit higher of a collar, so that it covers the neck more on chilly days. I ended up returning it, but perhaps it would fit a more petite person better.

Great jacket for all types of weather

I love this jacket! It's a very flattering fit and it's great for the fall and winter. I'm 5'4" and 125lbs, and I got a size medium so that I can easily layer a sweater or two plus a puff jacket and a thick scarf underneath when the weather is especially cold. I tried out the size small too, and I felt like the fit of the jacket on its own looked equally flattering in both a size small and medium, so if you intend to layer then I'd highly recommend just going up a size. With all those layers combined, I was sufficiently warm at -15 farenheit. When it's warmer out I just wear this jacket on it's own. The jacket is also water resistant in light rain.

I love the color and style!

I'm 5.1, 120lbs, a big bone type. I'm usually between size 2 and 4 so I wasn't sure if I was Small or XS. So I went to the store and tried them both. Glad I did! Ended up getting XS for snag-fit and right length. I can still wear a light sweater or a puffer vest. I wish the zipper goes 2 ways to give more room for walking. And few more buttons would be helpful to close the front without zipping up (I might have someone to add buttons actually). But I LOVE the style and brown color! If you need a longer jacket but don't wanna wear a puffer coat that everyone is wearing, I highly recommended this jacket!

perfect for me!

I’m 5’0” petite and 103 lbs. I got the extra small and it’s perfect! It’s supposed to be a loose rugged fit I think (think boyfriend style) so if that’s the style you’re going for then get it! I have the tan color and it just pops! The perfect bright vivid tan color that is fashionable and not the ugly faded one. The pockets are deep which is perfect. I even fit a bottle of water in there once because i ran out of hand space haha. It’s on sale so get it now! Wish I got this sale price such a great deal! I got mine a few months ago and loving it!

I have been looking for a jacket like this for years. Something practical, casual and warm! This jacket is very flattering given its weight. I’m 5’11” 145lbs and 34d chest. I got the small and it fits well with just enough room for a sweater layer underneath. I have a torrentshell and a nano puff from Patagonia and I wear Mediums in both. So would recommend sizing down for this one.

Exactly What I Was Searching For

I live in Northern Michigan, and have been on the hunt for a casual coat that will keep me warm in the harsh lake effect winters, that had some kind of focus on sustainable and ethical sourcing. This coat fits the bill in every aspect and goes beyond. So far, we've had a couple days that temps dropped just below freezing; I was warm in this with just a thin long sleeve underneath. I expect it to be perfect for downtown strolls, winter walks with my pup, and beers by the fire. I would recommend taking the time to figure your size for this. For Patagonia, I've found that sizing varies throughout the brand but is consistent within their lines/materials. For example: My nanopuff pullover fits snugly as a Medium, but I wear a small in anything from the workwear-inspired line (this coat included). I am 5'2 and 130 pounds, carry most of my weight on the hips; finding a warm coat that doesn't look/feel incredibly bulky on my small frame is difficult, but this one does the work!

Passed the test on Minnesota winters

I bought this jacket a few years ago and feel I can now give it a proper review. This jacket is awesome. I live in the Twin Cities and need my jackets to stand up to the harsh winters and my active lifestyle. I'm 5'7, roughly 125 lbs, and I purchased the size small. I have a 1.5 mile walking commute to my office at the UMN. This jacket pairs well on its own most days. When the temp really drops, I layer up with either my better sweater, insulated vest, or nano puff underneath. And I'm typically feeling pretty toasty by the time I get to work and when walking around campus. Highly recommend.

Looks good but lacks features.

I'm 5'2", 125 lbs, athletic build with broad shoulders and large hips/thighs. I purchased a small based off reviews but need to return for a medium. Just with a t-shirt on it's too small across the shoulders and the sleeves are short. I can't lift my arms without it feeling tight and no way I'd have extra room for layers. The trunk of the coat is plenty roomy and has that relaxed/baggy/boyfriend fit. Just has tight shoulders and short sleeves, so I'm really hoping the medium works. This is quite a pricey jacket for having zero features. It has the most basic of things...hand pockets. I don't see the chest pockets being super useful. No two way zip and no internal pocket. All in all, really cute jacket and I'd still like to keep it for the style. But definitely doesn't have any bells and whistles. Not sure if I'll keep the medium even, but I am glad I purchased it on sale!

Well-crafted Parka: Sizing Review

Patagonia makes great products and this one is no different. It is beautifully made and stylish. I'm writing this review for folks who are mainly interested in sizing. I am someone who can either be a small or a medium in a lot of products. I would say that Patagonia mediums often feel slightly oversize on me. I tried on both the medium and small for this product and both of them worked for me in different ways. If you are often in-between sizes and have slightly broader shoulders, the smaller size may feel a bit tight. The shoulders did still fit me and I had good mobility, it just didn't have the same relaxed comfort that the medium had in the shoulders. The smaller size may be good for someone who doesn't plan on extensive layering underneath. For me, I'm 5'4 and 145 pounds with a 36 DD chest, and in the small, I could really only wear a thin sweater or long sleeve underneath comfortably. I don't think I could comfortably fit a bulkier fleece or wool sweater underneath in the small. This being said, although warm, I don't think it would suffice for folks in 50 degrees and below without layering, although I know that's a matter of personal preference. I liked that the size small looked more sleek and stylish on me since it was more fitted. The medium definitely looked bulkier and less sleek even when I used the internal waist cinches, but I had much more mobility in the shoulders and could definitely put a thicker sweater or jacket underneath. If you have long arms and are taller, you may find that the sleeves on the small are a bit short. I think for most shorter folks, the sleeves will be a really nice fit.
