It's lighter and cheaper than the Dome 2 Plus or the Passage 2 (exact same footprint as the passage 2 btw), but the design of the tent is very poor. The side without a door has barely any rain fly coverage. Bought this for a point-to-point backpacking trip for two people and we got soaked on the inside because the side without a door has a super short fly and the rain pooled despite our cover + groundsheet. I'm sure it would be a decent tent for some kids in fair weather, but any rain and you're done. Also, the fly and tent itself had a hard time staying off eachother despite using the guides = more rain inside. Would not buy this one again. Thankfully REI exchanged it.
Camped in the summer for 2 weeks in 2019. It doesn’t have great ventilation when the rain fly is on. I used a ground tarp underneath it, and with the rain fly is set up properly it went through 2 separate monsoon style t-storms and not one drop inside. It’s the easiest tent to set up I’ve ever owned. This will be my 3rd summer camping with it. Great value!
This tent is lightweight for a two person tent. The clips that attach the tent to the poles make for easy assembly and quick set up. The inaugural use of this tent was in the rain and the fly repelled the water and it held up with no leaks. I was dry and warm as a bug inside despite the downpour and sub 40 degree temperatures.
I’ve taken this tent backpacking a few times since I have purchased it and absolutely love it. It’s light, fits great in a pack, takes no more than 60 seconds to set up, and the mesh allows condensation to drip off the fly instead of settle in the tent itself. It also has numerous pockets to store extra items.
First thing first. Although occasionally we get caught in thunderstorms backpacking, I have never had this in the rain. That being said, I use this with my 7 year old son backpacking and this tent has been good for us. Space is good, but we keep our gear outside, under a tree at night to have more room. Plenty of room for us though. The last time we went backpacking it dropped below freezing and we woke up with dew and the ground frozen. We didn’t have any problems waking up wet or anything like that, and I felt it kept us much warmer then being under the stars. We even had the vents open for circulation, with no problems with moisture. I gave it 4 stars because I feel it’s a little heavy. But I am the only one packing as my son carries minimal weight. If you’d split it, it’d obviously be better. But for the price I feel this is a good product. We go backpacking two or three times a year and I feel this is adequate for our uses, and having a tent keeps my son more comfortable out in the wild. For the price I’d buy again.
This tent has been on a lot of camping trips with me and has never let me down. It held up during a crazy thunderstorm with pretty good winds in North Dakota. I was completely dry and had no leaks whatsoever. The set up couldn’t be any easier, literally takes less than 5 mins. The only thing I wish was that the tent was a little bit lighter in weight but with how it has held up for me in all kinds of weather, it is still a really awesome tent and would recommend it to anyone.
This tent is great for all of your camping needs. Super quick and easy set up with magnetic poles plus it looks great.
Decent tent, but nothing special. Unfortunately this tent dosen't do well in the rain. First night spent in the tent I encountered a light rain all night long. The inside wasn't super wet but I noticed some items in the corners were damp. The rain fly however sweated pretty hard, and the underside was soaked. While I like this tent, I don't think I'll be trusting this tent in wet conditions in the future.
Recently I went to camping trip and I noticed fly does not work properly specially sides of the tent and moisture went inside during rain or specially during morning . I hope I can return this tent and get better one.
This tent packs down to about 1.5 ft by 5 in by 5 in (see actual specification for more accuracy), but it fits into a carry on bag and when I'm backpacking, I put the poles on the side of my backpack and fold the material into the backpack. It's very easy to set up. I like the pocket on top and on the sides. No complaints!
