Not for backpacking, but a good product.

I've really enjoyed the rain fly for my hammock, but find it's size to be cumbersome both in packing and use. The huge surface area of the fly make it extremely vulnerable to even low wind speeds, which is made worse by the fact that the product only comes with four of the eight stakes needed to set it up. This is for sure not a product for the backcountry. That being said, I still have used the product while car camping and on short trips that I didn't really expect bad weather. If you aren't looking to fully abandon your tent yet, this might be a good product for you.

Kuhli Keeps Me Dry

I have owned the Kuhli tarp for several years. I have used it in a variety of situations including warm summer to cool winter. It has performed admirably in thunderstorms! I recently took it out for a 3 day trek on the Butterfield trail in the Boston Mountains of Arkansas. Of course it rained both nights on the trail. The tarp has yet to have a leak! The knotless tie outs and ridgeline I really appreciate. They have held in wind and thunderstorms.

New Hammock camper

The size really surprised me. Excellent coverage. I'd like to see the tarp shipped with 8 stakes instead of the usual 4 stakes.

Hi, thank you so much for reviewing the Kuhli! We're grateful to know the tarp has provided you shelter in the outdoors. We provide 4 stakes as this is the minimum needed to use your tarp, however we do have a stake pack you can use in addition to the ones included!

Kuhli Pro is an upgrade to the already great Kuhli

My family Hammock-camps quite a bit, mostly in the wet Pacific Northwest. We have used several other rain flys, all of which have been functional but nothing to write home about. Last year I bought a Kuhli and was immediately wowed by the quality and the little details like the cord pockets. Now we have two Kuhlis and one Kuhli Pro. The family is still arguing about who makes the best hammock but we all agree on the best rain fly. This is it!

Simply Awesome.

After lots of research, I decided on this tarp for backpacking adventures. I have had the privilege to guide using this tarp for clients and it stands the test of time. Other guides in my outfitter, always ask about the Kuhli! Been in multiple hail storms and this tarp saved me multiple times. It’s easy to set up, it’s incredible at rain resistance, and it packs down light. Could not be more impressed by this product.

I love this tarp!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So easy! So well designed! Keeps the rain and wind at bay, no fuss, the lines are easy to keep taut. The tarp is absolutely rainproof and would make a fine tent on its own. Its usefulness more than compensates for the few extra ounces compared to other lightweight tarps. My favorite place to camp is the Olympic rainforest, and I’m so glad to now have a tarp that’s so suited for it.

Light and 100% waterproof

I work for a backpacking outfitter and our guides regularly use tarps as kitchen areas, a place for the group to sit, and sleeping shelter for guides. We started a trip a few weeks ago in an absolute downpour that turned into freezing rain as we got to higher elevation, but we were able to easily set up the Kuhli and stayed completely dry underneath. It's light, compact, and dried quickly once the sun came out. The only qualm I had with it is that the cinch to tighten the cord would slip when wet or when the wind picked up, but this was easily fixed by tying a bowlin knot near the cinch point.
