I am glad that I found this at home vs on the trail. Unless you plan to work the bowl free from underneath the shroud every time, consider an alternative product. The bowl lacks a wider lip at the top. This, combined with the fact that the shroud has sharp serrated edges and does not fit snug, permits the bowl to firmly wedge under the shroud. This cannot be physically turned to dislodge. On multiple occasions I have had to use a flat screwdriver (knife will not work) to dislodge which marks the aluminum. Both the bowl and shroud need replaced, and the stove needs a redesign. Again, simply putting a slightly wider lip on the bowl and tighter tolerances on the shroud would solve. Forget trying to work with Cascade MSR to preserve an otherwise good product and reputation. They do not wish to talk with their customers. Look harder at Jetboil and others.
Only gave the windburner duo 1 star because it wouldnt let me give it a ZERO. Brand new out of the box and the fuel is uncontrolable. As soon as you try to attach a fuel canister the valve is flowing wide open and i cant close it. No trouble shooting tips included in the instructions. Used my MSR reactor for years without an issue. Super dissappointed in MSR with this one. A lot of money for a stove that failed right out of the box. Where is the quality control?
This is the first and only stove I've ever owned. It boils water lightning fast and is very stable on the ground. Many people complain about the amount of space it takes up in their pack, or the weight. I don't care about those things in this case. This stove is thoughtfully designed and works wonderfully.
I used the stove/sysstem for the first time on a recent camping touring trip. The stove is stable, easy to set up, light, adjust the flame, pack and clean. No liquid fuel to deal with, although I'll still use my Whisper Light International for certain outings.
