HE LOVED IT!
My husband is a picky shopper! Whatever he buys has to be worth every penny or it's simply not worth buying. So I did my research and thank goodness I did and I bought this jacket for this winter time here in CA. It rained and snowed a lot but because of this jackets versatility I heard no complaints! He LOVED it. If it was raining, he'd wear only the shell. If we were taking the kids out at night and it was cold, he'd only wear the inner sweater. When we went to the snow, the entire jacket kept him warm and dry. What more could I ask for. It was a great purchase. Quality and make was excellent as well as the style and versatility of the jacket.
Good product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only used this jacket one time so far and was satisfied with the warmth it provided. It blocked the wind well. So far, the only thing I don't like is with the fleece liner extending out from under the outer jacket in the sleeves. Many times the sleeves/cuffs of the fleece liner would work their way out from under the outer shell sleeve/cuff. And I mean a couple of inches, not just barely. Never had that problem with my Bean 3-in-1 jacket. Wish they had more color selections as well with some multi-color selections. Overall, I think I'll be satisfied with the jacket and the flexibility of the 3-in-1 options but I don't think I'll be ecstatic.
Flixible when traveling.
I bought this recently and took it to Spain for a biz trip at the end of December. Weather can be anything from sunny and 60 to 20's with snow and everything in between. In fact, we had just about everything you can think of. The jacket did exactly what I needed on any given day without the need to carry multiple jackets. My only complaint is the silver lining. It sort of makes you stick out in the crowd when I prefer to blend in when traveling abroad. It's just one of those personal security things that people who have been traveling globally for years think about. This is why only four stars otherwise a great product that performs as advertised.
Excellent Jacket!
This jacket is fantastic! The outside shell is truly waterproof, the water just beads off. The fleece interior has the omni-heat material and keeps me very warm by itself in very cold, windy weather. Both pieces are easily worn separately and together and are connected by metal snap pieces which make it easy to put together and take apart. Living in the PNW it rains nearly everyday in the winter and this jacket has proven its worth! I normally wear larges and this jacket fits me fine in a Large. I had ordered an extra-large at first after reading previous reviews and found that was WAY too big. I am 5'10" and about 210 lbs - the large fits me perfect.
Great versatile jacket system
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So let's get the bad out of the way, with the Omni-heat fleece liner in it, the sleeves on this jacket get far too tight. Other than a compression type under layer I can't wear anything long sleeve underneath. That said, I'm a big guy (6'5" 390lbs) so your experience may vary. That said, this jacket rocks! It is excellent in the whole range of rated temps without being heavy, the shell is waterproof and completely stops the wind and I love the removable hood b/c most times I don't like hoods, but it's great to have when venturing out in really cold/stormy conditions. Overall I rate this an excellent value for the price.
Great jacket and functionality
Love it! I purchased the grey and it's quite stylish, runs large however. I love columbia jackets for 3 reasons- quality, price and the fact that you can adjust the hoods in the back! :) This bugaboo jacket has all the right features and performs well. I can come up with 2 cons right off the bat though... 1. The "reflective coating" looks cheaper than my previous omni heat coat and it's kind of itchy also. 2. The loop or whatever it's called to hang the jacket on a hook is cheap and ripped. Not a deal breaker, very minor for the most part. I would buy this jacket again! Great look and performance is also great! Thx
Nice jacket, but...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used to have a Bugaboo interchange jacket when I lived in Alaska many years ago and loved it. I bought the new version of this jacket recently and wore it to an outdoor NFL game. It was about 30 degrees outside with a blowing wind, definitely below freezing temps. Wearing a long sleeve undershirt and sweatshirt underneath, the jacket held up and kept me pretty warm for the most part over 6-7 hours. However, I think I needed an extra layer to be as warm as expected with this jacket. Lots of room for many layers as this jacket runs large. I had hoped it would have been warmer given the hype of the new reflective liner, but I wasn't "over-the-top" impressed. Hope this helps.
Outer Material Collects Everything
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved the look of this jacket. Received the black version and it fit wonderfully. I wear size Large and appreciate a little breathing room and this was perfect. Material on outer shell however collected every piece of dust, lint, fuzz, etc... So much so that within a hour or running some errands in it - the thing was covered. Looked like I had the jacket for 5 years instead of 2 days. Returning it. A lighter color may not have this problem as much but the outer shell is coarse, so it will pick up pretty much everything regardless of color. Very sad I have to find another coat. Looks and fit great.
Not sure yet.
I got this to get ready for winter, but I live in New Mexico, so it's not cold enough yet to make a true review. But from what I've seen and felt so far, it's worth it, I needed a replacement for my old columbia jacket and this more than met my needs. I think it's a tad over kill for this area but I also bought it because I'll be moving back east soon and I feel I made a great choice. The only problem I might see is about the sleeves haven't check if there are any buttons, but it was kinda hard taking off the jacket with the sleeves tightened down, we'll see, otherwise I'm more than happy with it.
Great Jacket
Just a couple things I wish were different: #1 -- The branding on the chest and sleeve. The color is such a contrast makes it more like a billboard than a logo. The thread should be a closer match to the background. #2 -- Wish you could choose the color of the liner separate from the shell. Would much prefer the Graphite shell with the liner that comes with the Black one -- really don't like the light grey color when wearing just the liner :-( That said, the Omni-Heat reflective inner material is amazing, feels like an externally powered thermal blanket to me. Much appreciated when the temperature is 40 or below, however, expect to sweat a lot when the temperature is higher than that.
