Great leash, could be better with a simple upgrade
This leash is excellent for taking our husky on long runs and hikes. The waistband and bungee make it easy to keep everything under control while still giving our dog plenty of space to explore the trail as she pleases. One thing that would give this leash five stars would be to replace the Talon clasp with a locking carabiner, similar to the Knot-A-Leash. More than once, we could notice the strength of our dog's pull opening the Talon clasp. While this never actually caused the clasp to open, we ended up attaching a carabiner to the clasp to be on the safe side. Would buy again 100% if there was a carabiner option.

Great idea, needs to be made with stronger materia
I love so many things about this leash, it keeps your hands free so you can run with your dog. I noticed after about a week that the bungee part of the leash was breaking down. Today, my dog was spooked and pulled, which caused the plastic buckle to break and he was off running down the road. Ugh! Luckily he came back before he got to the busy street. Maybe just don't use it if you have a dog that might pull. My dog is a 6 month old, 50 lb. Labrador.

Stretches quickly, breaks easily

I love Ruffwear gear, but this leash is a complete miss. I don't know what they did to this thing in development, but it's not a solid product. I've had it for about two weeks and the bungee is already stretching. Today, while walking our dog, the clasp for the waist snapped and my dog went running down the street. Thankfully he was ok, but it was essentially the worst possible thing that could have happened with this leash. Nothing I'm saying is much different than what other reviews about this leash say online. I just wish I would have listened to them, because this is a truly bad product.

Great Solution for Dog Hiking and City Walking

This is an extremely easy to use leash. I strap it around my waist and can either let our dog roam with a little freedom or use the loop near the hook for heeling. The stretch is just enough to signal to our dog that he is "running out or leash." Don't expect it to be a magic solution to a dog who pulls on a leash, it isn't. But if your dog is reasonable trained, it is a great solution. When I let our dog off lead, all I do is stick the hook in my pocket and it is out of the way and yet easily accessible if we need to hook up.

A lot of things I like, but...

I really love the idea of this leash. I have a very rambunctious husky who loves to suddenly lunge forward, often giving me whiplash. When I first got this leash, my dog was quick to test out the bunjee. I was happy to find that the elastic saved me from my dog's jerking. However, the elastic quickly faded. Like, less than a month of that stretchy effect. So now its just a really long leash with some stretch left. Probably about 30% of what it was when purchased. I do really like the waist mode, which does keep your dog close. I like this for hiking, my dog will pull me up hills. I agree, the talon clasp does make me nervous, so I'd like to see a normal caribiner or even better, a locking one. When this leash totally gives out, I won't buy another until Ruffwear makes some updates.

Not recommended for a large dog

Loved the concept and seemed like sturdy material. First few uses and I was very happy with the purchase. However, we went out on a cross country skiing adventure and my 100 lb puppy wanted to chase snowmobiles. I had to really pull him back and it somehow bent the clasp. After that it was very difficult to open/close. For this reason we ended up returning. I also noticed some wear on the bungee already. I think this would be ideal for a smaller dog.

Look elsewhere

Very disappointed in this leash. The plastic clip is not great and I’m just waiting for the time when my golden retriever sees a squirrel and takes off, snapping the plastic clip like it’s barely there. There’s almost no functionality to it. There are better options out there. I was expecting something like my old OllyDog leash that has a metal loop and latch. The ruffwear does the bare minimum by being a) a leash and b) an extendable leash hence the 2 stars.

Elastic stretches out quickly

I was hoping this leash would allow more elasticity while walking. But after several pulls by my retriever there is no elastic left. Very disappointing and I notice many of the reviews say the same thing. There is a design flaw

Dog walking simplified

This leash is great! A little expansion but durable and well made! Love the secure latch to know positively your loved one is securely attached! We recommend if you want a well made dog leash!

Elastic failed quickly

I like the waist band, but my 60 lb dog can pull and lunge pretty hard and the elastic failed after about 3 weeks of daily walks.
