These shorts are awesome! I was looking for some lightweight shorts for really hot summer running (I live in western Colorado and it gets HOT). As soon as these came in the mail I was in love!! They are so lightweight and I felt zero chafing after a 10 mile treadmill run, I didn’t have to adjust them the whole time. I also love that they are truly high waisted. My new favorite shorts! My only caution- these run large in my opinion. I bought a small which is my usual size in shorts and I was swimming in them. The XS fits perfectly though, so I would recommend sizing down a full size from your usual.

Not good enough to earn the name Brooks Chaser

The previous version of Brooks Chaser 3” was pretty close to perfect. So why did Brooks make an entirely different short and slap the Chaser name on it? The new Chaser is made of light fabric (good for the heat) but it has 0 water/sweat resistant pockets like the REAL Chaser shorts had. So if you carry tissue or cash while you run, sorry. Another function problem with these is when your legs sweat (a given on a humid day), this new version sticks to the back of your legs because of the new cut. The REAL Chaser did not do that because of its superior cut. The REAL Chaser just had an overall more flattering cut, dry or sweaty. The color is nice but that doesn’t make up for the lack of functionality. Why do people ignore Jim Valvano’s tip,” don’t mess with happy?” I don’t get it. I especially don’t get why Brooks made a totally different animal and gave it a proven veteran’s name. The new short should have its own name but Brooks, please bring back the REAL Chaser 3.

runs slightly large

I am not sure what I was expecting with these shorts but they exceeded my expectations. I will say I haven’t taken them out for a run yet and with it being cooler out I am not sure if I will soon. I will say these run a slightly on the larger side - I ordered an XL I’m 5’2” and weigh 180-185 lbs. For the most part I feel like shorts I buy then to run smaller so I opted for an XL vs LG but I could have definitely done a large. The waist part is what runs larger and in general these shorts are more flowy so they aren’t hugging your thighs which is nice. I will be exchanging for a smaller size but will definitely buy another pair in the future.

Mixed improvement over previous years

What's good: the material is great (light, stretchy, breatheable), and the design of the liner is an improvement over past years (I have another pair of Chaser shorts and the width of the built in underwear between the legs was too narrow). What I don't like with this version: I'm a true Medium and these are on the large end of Medium (as in, any weight in the back zippered pocket will start to pull the short off me). The built in underwear are also longer than in the past, so I have to wear them up near my belly button to fit snugly and not have extra fabric bunching around my waist. A step in the right direction, but not perfect yet.

simply perfect

perfectly high waisted, perfect length for someone who likes short but not too short shorts, very lightweight so even if they do right up the chafe isn't bothersome. They do show crotch sweat during high heat/heavy activity , but they wick so fast I was not bothered and it dried quickly. lining is soft and pocket is convenient -- will be purchasing more!

Amazing fit, comfort, and durability!

I bought these shorts about halfway through my thruhike of the Appalachian Trail. I had been using hiking pants and wanted shorts going into the warmer months. I am seriously impressed by them! My group thought they were too flimsy to hold up (had to do lots of butt scooting in the Whites and southern Maine), but they had no snags, holes, or issues of any kind for 1000+ miles! Now that I'm done, I still use them for running, and they've held up amazingly! No chafing for any kind of use. Slight discoloration from abrasion but that's on me.

Get these!

These are the best shorts out there right now IMO. I used to wear Nike Tempo for running, everyday wear, and sleeping. But I've noticed that the brief part has gotten smaller with updates, and the elastic waistband irritates me. I'm also in between sizes in Nike (XXL is too big, XL is uncomfortably small). These Brooks shorts solve all of those problems! I was impressed by the full-coverage briefs, comfy waistband, and perfect length with vents for mobility. They run true to size for me according to the sizing chart and the XL fits great. Exactly what I was looking for. Back on the website to order more!

INCREDIBLE. I’m 5’6, about 140 pounds, I got a medium and they are perfect. I don’t like my shorts skin tight so it is the perfect amount of breathing room but they didn’t fall down OR ride up on my 15 mile long run (and I kept Gus in the back pocket). The length is incredible, VERY flattering overall. They hit just below my belly button. Extremely light weight and comfortable. I got the light purple which was a really nice color, definitely getting them in red and black because they’re too perfect not to get more pairs. If you’re looking for a good tracksmith alternative, I can’t say enough good things.

Terrible Quality

The waist band is horrible! I washed in cold water one time (didn’t even put in the drier) and the elastic and threading started popping out and coming undone. While the waist band doesn’t ride up, the shorts do if you have an athletic build. So disappointed with my first Brooks purchase.

Perfect short!

It is perfect! This became my favorite short. Not only because the material dry fast but also very comfortable. Best choice for the summer. I like the length too and the big pocket in the back, where my iPhone 11 fits perfectly. Running with this is absolutely amazing.
