Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic for Travel and Photography I bought this bag to be my camera bag for all occasions, particularly while hiking. My previous two bags were a camera bag, and a North Face backpack. The first one was clunky and looked like a camera bag, leaving me always worried that someone would grab it for the valuable camera equipment inside. The second was a great backpack (I still use it when I do not need my camera gear) but could not store any of my lenses or any other gear without it getting scuffed up banging against each other. This bag has proven incredibly useful, filling the gap I had between the two. I primarily use it for two things... Hiking. I can configure the folding seperators to hold my lenses, leaving the top space available for things I might need hiking. The side pouches are perfect for a bottle of water and my tripod if I am taking it with me. The way the seperators work allows me to keep both sides accessible so all I need to do is sling the bag, open the side without the tripod and I have access to my lenses. The straps are all secure and I haven't had any issues with slippage or backache. The padding of the bag protects the gear inside well if I jostle the bag around. I have ever dropped it once without any damage. I do admit I was worried about water getting in wit ha light drizzle I was in while hiking once, but it worked well and no moisture made it into the pack. The tie down straps on both sides work really well and I have used them for tripods as well as other hiking gear, anything I put in them was very secure and easy to free if needed. Travel. I configure the seperators differently for travel than I do hiking allowing access for my camera body. Again the straps are comfortable and there is no slippage. The side pockets give me easy access to anything I might need fairly quickly which is helpful if I see something I want to shoot while travelling or if I need to remove my camera gear for any reason. On a recent trip to China I was asked to remove each lens at the security checkpoint and this bag made that incredibly fast. As a caveat I use this bag almost exclusively for when I need photography gear and it has become my camera bag for all occasions. I do not think it would do well with a Camelback Reservoir though I have not tried it. I think it would be best used for that intended purpose, carrying technical equipment around that needs a little extra protection while being quick and easy to get to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superbly engineered backpack for photographers This pack for quite suitable for everyday work use, whether or not you use it's flexible baffle system for camera gear. However, if you aren't a photographer, consider another pack that is designed more for carrying books, papers, or whatever, such as one with several compartments instead of one large compartment. Let's hope that Peak Design does bags for non-photographers. Also, the 30L size is quite tall. For example, when I sit it on top of my roller suitcase, it's tall enough that the handle can be passed over the top bar of the suitcase handle (which is convenient, actually). Despite its height, it still fits under an airline seat, but since I don't carry that much camera gear that often, I would probably buy the 20L size if I did it again. The flap latch is ingenious, replacing the annoying two-hand hook on my older Timbuktu messenger bag. The top zipper is also very handy for access to my laptop, ipad, and things I stash in the short pocket, like my phone, earbuds, etc. The side zips are great when you use the camera gear baffles, as are the pockets on the inside flaps. You do have to a second zipper to get into those pockets, a minor bit of extra work. I like the key leash for storing my keys when I'm away, too. I've had it a week and so far I'm very happy with this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Versatile Backpack I have other PD gear, so I am familiar with their stuff. This bag far exceeded my hopes. I use it absolutely every single day. Back and forth to work and around town or social gatherings. It is great for carrying camera gear, but is equally good just toting the stuff you need to adult through life. Since it does not have a place for a bladder, I wouldn't use this as a hiking pack. But, it is not really intended to be that anyways. I would recommend this to anyone without hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Backpack Ever! I got the 30L. Every single part of this bag was clearly designed to a excruciating detail. The functionality is unbelievable, the quality is expectional and it looks beautiful. Simple, sleek, versatil and comfortable. The high density padding allows for long extended supportive use. I get lots of compliments on looks but the bag goes far beyond aesthetics. Worth every penny, bag will last ten plus years im sure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag for my Setup Bought this to replace my LowePro Classified AW 160 for an upcoming trip to St Barths. Works perfect for my setup that includes a 5D MK III, Canon 24-70, Canon 70-200 and Sigma 50 Art Lens. Still have plenty of room on the top to add clothing items, more camera gear, etc etc. Side pockets expand to fit a large water bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best bag I've used! This is by far the best backpack I've used. I've tried TNF Recon and Upload but neither did the trick. This bag has so much that is customizable for my needs. I own the 30L which holds all my gear with room to spare. I highly recommend the everyday backpack!

"Weatherproof" is a tricky term. If I use this bag in the rain, on my motorcycle,on the highway, will my stuff get wet?

Asked by: F1FireKing
This camera bag has a 500-denier weatherproof shell and DWR on both sides which will provide ample water resistance. However if you are in a heavy down pour for a few hours your items may get wet.

Have any petite women tried this bag? I'm curious how the smaller version might fit on a smaller lady (5'2").

Asked by: PhotoSam
I suggest getting the 20L because it says that the 30L would be more comfortable on men and women that are above 5'5"
