Versatile and clutter free
Bought the pair last month and have gone on a few trail and road runs with em. I'm so far very pleased with how comfortable they feel. They are light, cool and not too short. The 4 sides pockets and one zipper pocket on the back make this pair my current go to shorts. They hold iPhone and keys well! These extra items do weigh the shorts down. But with the draw cord, the shorts stay in place. One potential problem I can foresee is that the side mesh material seems to be very delicate and I wouldn't be surprised if a random pull, stretch, sharp object/hook or washing machine tear it a bit. Overall, even though the price is steep, I am very pleased with the shorts so far.
Great long distance or race day shorts
Got this pair of shorts primarily for the carrying capacity. 5 total pockets can carry gels, tablets, keys, I'd and even your phone. I was Abel to get rid of my gel/phone belt using these shorts. Aside from the features, these shorts are well vented and very light. Also the construction feels very solid. I usually don't wear shorts this short (5 inch inseam) but if your running a race or going for the long run, who cares, these shirts are great.
Great shorts/bad return service
Patagonia 5 stars.REI returns 0 stars.I purchased a pair of these a little over a year ago from REI.These were my go to for long trail runs.Then the seams started to come undone.This is not typical of a Patagonia product and i figured they would take them back no questions asked.They would not take them back and said it was normal wear and tear.The newer model of these shorts eliminates the mesh between the legs that fell apart.Obviously a problem so they corrected it.I just wish REI really did stand by what they sell.

I have been wearing strider pro's 5" (I own 3 pair) for 2 years now and have put in around 5000k+ miles of running in them. All three pair are still in excellent condition despite severe abuse. The side pocket are great for goo's, trash and other odds and ends while the zippered back pocket keeps money keys etc safe. Never have a problem with chafing and the shorts are quite breathable. Never have had a problem with the shorts retaining body odor. Great shorts plus Patagonia is an ethical company.
Great running shorts
These shorts are just the right length. Not too short, which I did not want. Like the breathability of the shorts and the zip pocket for the car key in the back is perfect. Very well constructed. Have always had good luck with the Patagonia brand. Love these shorts.
Best trail-running short
I purchased these 9 years ago from REI. Now the elastic is wearing out and I’m looking at the next gen of Patagonia running shorts. Long-wearing. Not too tight or too short. Like the rear pockets for stashing small items.
