Decent bag minus some issues
I've had this bag for less than a year and it's showing serious wear. Its got two holes that aren't on seams (meaning they will continue to get bigger) and seems are starting to wear out all over. Another issue is that there are no straps inside of the bag so your skis just flop around inside beating each other up. Not the biggest deal since you can use your own ski straps to protect them. Overall pretty good bag if it wasn't showing all this wear. For the almost $200 I spent on it I expected this bag to last a lot longer than 9-10 months before it starts falling apart.
Horrible quality, do not recommend
Horrendous quality. Seems started splitting and holes appeared after first trip last year. REI wouldn’t accept return. Do not recommend.
bare bones bag
First off this bag has no straps inside to lock your boards/skis/poles in palce. This is a big deal since the bag is floppy (like all ski/board bags) and relies on your gear to keep the bag rigid. This means it will need to be packed full of other suff to make it manageable. Good straps would make this bag go from 3 to 5 stars. I will just wrap some external straps around the whole thing. I have 3 other rolling ski bags and this one is the lightest, but also also the most bare bones. It also sits in the middle by price.
Great bag for family ski trip
This bag worked perfectly for a family trip. I packed my skis and boots, 2 adult helmets, and all of the outerwear, gloves, etc for a family of 4. I could have packed my wife's skis also, but those went in a separate smaller ski bag so I could fully load this bag with all the other soft goods for the family. I have read criticism that the bag is "soft" and not a rigid case, but of course the bag is rigid when the skis are in it, and the benefit of the soft case is that you can fold it in half in the back of the car when the skis are on the roof headed to the airport (I don't have a vehicle that can accommodate the full family and the bag fully loaded, so I added the skis at the airport parking garage). The bag has only made 1 trip, but seems durable enough and I disagree with reviewers who worried the bag is flimsy or poorly made. If you want a hard box/case, this is not for you, but I thought it worked great.
Perfect bags for family ski trips.
Used the bag on an international trip. The bags were plenty spacious and held up nicely. There were three other bags that were the same when we picked up ours which i take as a good sign. I do wish they has some kind of straps inside yo help keep skis in place but it wasnt that needed. I used the bag to transport four skis from the truck to condo which was super helpful. The materials on the bag were sturdy and well made. The boot bags came in handy and attached to the inner of the bottom of the bag which helped keep the boots in place during shipping.
Doesn't roll
I'm pretty disappointed with this purchase. I bought it in order to 1) consolidate from two checked bags to one on my ski trips and 2) be able to roll my stuff. It worked on the former account but fails miserably on the second. The issue is that the boots are at the wheel end of the suitcase and when you lift up from the handle side of the bag, the boots cause the whole bag to bend. There is nothing rigid on the bottom on the suitcase to ensure it remains straight. So the boot end of the bag ends up dragging on the floor / sidewalk while you pull on the handle. This defeats the purpose of a wheeled bag because of a poor design. Clearly the people who made it never tested it with boots and skis.
Makes ski travel easy
Good affordable ski travel bag. I took my telemark skis and boots on a trip to Wyoming this past holiday and it worked out great. It is a soft bag so I would recommend going to your local post office and buying bubble wrap for integral parts like the bindings. I think I spent somewhere between 5-7$ for three rolls and it was more than enough for the bindings. I fit my skis, boots, poles, helmet, jacket, pants, skins, gloves and even had a little extra room. I would also recommend buying 5cm bigger if you're trying to fit things like skins and other miscellaneous items in the bag. If you're looking for a fairly affordable product for a ski trip and are carrying one set of shtuff this is definitely a good buy.
Big, Sturdy, Rolls Eell
Hauled this bag loaded with two sets of ski gear a mile to the train, through two airports and another .7 mile of sidewalk to the hotel in Denver. Well made, rolls great, looks great. The water proof boot bag separates the wet gear from the dry gear. Plenty of room to pack in clothing between and on top of skis which actually gave the bag more rigidity. Alaska Airlines treated it well. Highly recommend the bag and the airline.
Big disappointment
This bag has been super disappointing in terms of quality. I have had it for a maybe 2 months and finally took it out for a ski trip and it is falling apart already. The material has a couple of cuts in it despite being careful with the bag while traveling. considering I only took the bag on one trip and the bag is already falling apart, I would like a refund and I will not be replacing this bag with another dakine bag like this
Fits two pairs well
Fit two sets of skis and poles, two helmets and googles, 2 ski pants, mittens and such, and one pair of ski boots. Had room to spare, but we hit the 50 lb mark, so had to stop filling it! Wheels make it easy to maneuver.
