Solid plane bag

Reasonable protection, room for two snowboards easily with some gear stuffed in, or two skis. Could use some more fastening solutions for gear, but I was able to fit plenty of gear/layers including helmet. I wouldn't expect it to handle a lot of abuse by overworked and stressed tarmac workers but it should work for most situations and you can always augment protection with some cut up pool noodles and judicious packing of soft layers. Fabric wipes easily, does scuff over time but has been relatively good in contrast to some of my other luggage against abrasive forces.

Poor quality, thoughtless design

I thought I upgraded to this bag from my old one but was very disappointed that it got holes and serious wear and tear from just ONE trip to Whistler. The design is also poor. There is no over the shoulder strap to convert the bag from roller on uneven surfaces and in snow. The handles hurt your hands so this is necessary but Dakine didn't think of that. I'm not sure what this bag would be useful for except storing your board in the garage.

Great board bag for the price!

So far I've only used this bag once for a trip traveling from Washington state to Whistler via train. I loaded it to the max for sure and that capacity included two snowboards - one of which had bindings mounted - one pair snowboard boots, backcountry day pack loaded with essentials, snowboard pants and jacket, mittens, two pairs of goggles, and three sets of base layers. The bag worked great for this trip and I could see it being very nice for airplane transport as well. My only reason for not rating it 5 stars is because I feel the handle design could be better; it was a bit uncomfortable carrying it long distances. Seems like this could be improved by having a handle that extends further away from the bag structure itself. Overall, I really like this bag and think it is a reasonable price.

great bag!

Traveled with this bag a dozen times with no issues. However on one occasion I folded the bag over the top of my snowboard and the board edge cut through the bag. I’d recommend getting some edge guard to prevent sharp edges from ripping the bag. Duct tape made the bag useable but will end up just getting a new one of these bags and add edge protectors going forward.

Fabric in dakine bag is cheap

Don’t waste your money on this bag. 2 tears on my first direct flight. Took on a second trip and got a 3rd tear that went straight through all layers of the bag. Cheap fabric. Burton bags have held up much better and am going back to them even though they are more expensive. In this case lower price (of Dakine bag) does equal lower quality.
