I have tried all of the Mountain House meals. This is a great new meal. Lots of chicken and great flavor. A 10 out of a scale of 1-10.

Chicken Fajita Bowl at Lodgepole Overfl Campground
I tried this meal as a Ranger for the Dyrt at Lodgepole Overflow Campground in Lake Alpine. This meal was very easy to make and filling and had a lot of flavor. It is an excellent backpacking choice because its light weight and delicious. A huge benefit is that it cooks quickly with minimal equipment. All you need is boiling water, a measuring cup (key to perfectly cooked meals) and a utensil to stir and then eat the contents right out of the pouch! This meal includes grilled chicken, rice, roasted vegetables and black beans. This meal was actually the first one I tried. The flavor wasn’t as strong as I would want in a Mexican inspired dish. The beans, veggies and rice were all cooked perfectly. I particularly liked the roasted veggies as they kept a lot of the flavor you would expect from roasted vegetables. The chicken however was only OK. One larger piece was still dry and uncooked in the middle (may have been my fault but still). The rest generally lacked flavor. I added quite a bit of hot sauce to help this meal. I imagine adding it to a tortilla and making it a burrito could have also helped.

Delicious and hydrated very well

This was a very good dinner and a nice change from so many beef products out there. Depending on what your caloric intake/output is for the day, this could easily be a one-person meal however. We were backpacking several miles so it wasn't quite enough calories for the two of us to share.

Great Gluten Free Option

This was the second different meal I tried on the same trip, but this one was even more important since my hiking partner needs to have Gluten Free options on the trail. I tested this Mountain House meal as a Ranger for The Dyrt. These meals are great and easy to make. I keep the meal in the pack because it is easier to pack in and pack out if needed. It is a lot of food. 2 servings might be enough for 2 people.

Delicious!!!

We made it up in pack then spooned into mini tortillas to eat. It’s was delicious & the tortillas bulked out the meal abit more. The pack filled 10 mini tortillas. Will definitely buy again.

Great GF option

This Chicken Fajita Bowl is very tasty and gluten free which is important for me having a wheat allergy. I enjoy the quick and easy preparation, using my jet boil. No muss or fuss and in only 15-20 min one has a great meal while camping.

Just like home!

Delicious! It was almost more than I could eat. Light weight, lasts forever, ready to eat in less than 10 minutes. I'll never hike without them again!

Flavor

Delicious meal after a day of backpacking or whitewater kayaking...even better with a beer.

So good!

This was delicious after a long, chilly hike! It was our dinner during an overnighter. Good serving size for 2 average stomaches. I feel like I probably could have finished most of the bag myself if I was starving, but we had snacks!

Great meal!

This was either the best or second best meal we had on our 3 weeks of backpacking; three separate trips. Large chunks of tender chicken that hydrated perfectly. Flavor was excellent and we did not have to add anything to enhance it.
