This PFD will you'll wear

I bought this PFD to replace my Stohlquist Fisherman. The Stohlquist served me well, but after 10 years its a bit stanky. I was hesitant to go a different way, but what the heck. The first time out in it, I was kinda pleased, still not sure. After the first trip I had to add all my stuff I use for fishing, knife strapped to shoulder strap, a zip tie loop run thru the square thing for line cutter and whistle, now the pockets...there's lots of them. The right large pocket is 2 pockets! Back one is a zip, where the phone goes, the front a velcro, perfect for camera. The left large one will be for my VHF, or wallet and keys. Little pockets, for an assortment, hook sharpener at the very least. It has a bungee thing that I hooked my pliers to, they don't float. It certainly has the storage thing covered. Comfort wise, yeah, it is. The back is a little higher then my last sits better. The front has a buckle thing that you can snap and leave the zipper open, oooh so nice in this fla heat.

the perfect fishing PFD

the NRS Chinook PFD is ideal for fishing, and in my case Kayak fishing. The flotation is much higher on the back and clears the seat for a very comfortable experience. I literally forget that I'm wearing it while I'm fishing or paddling. Plenty of pockets and attach points to keep you multi-tool, line trimmer, etc handy and accessible. Geat value for the price.

Great idea poor delivery

This PFD was on the top of my list, until i started using it. First of all, the pockets and placement of all of the loops and various attachment points was awesome, absolutely loved the idea. The problems started when the velcro, and sharp loose edges started catching and SHREDDING my HUK UPF shirt. I understand some might think this is trivial, but when you figure that MOST people will be wearing some kind of UV protective long sleeves when using this, it's a no brainer that it should have been designed NOT to snag just about every fabric known to man. I now have over $75.00 of ruined shirts because of this PFD. I wish I could have liked it but even if i covered up the velcro rod tether on the top shoulder the edges of just about every stitch point catch on all my shirts. Cotton is the only fabric that wouldn't snag, but is not comfortable in the sun, this PFD was NOT designed with that in mind. I will be trading this in soon, I only wish that someone would replace the shirts that it's ruined!!

Very comfortable

The NRS Chinook PFD is very comfortable to wear during an all day paddle trip. I got this PFD to carry personal essentials close to hand while on the water, without having to root around in the hull for them. Works great, extremely adjustable, and lots of storage options for the equipment I carry on the water.

not comfortable

well made throughout, but just NOT comfortable. I returned mine and got a couple of the Onyx Dynamic vests. Much better designed vest. One third of the price and way more comfortable than the NRC Chinook PFD.

Awesome paddling PFD. Very comfortable.

Very nice PFD. I haven't tested the buoyancy of the vest but very comfortable to wear so I will be a lot more likely to have it on when I need it. Pockets are good lay out and straps make it very customize able for various users.

Very comfortable PFD

Very comfortable for kayak fishing. Only complaint is that the NRS Pilot knife gets in the way of the pocket. If you look closely in picture you can see how low the knife sits and how it interferes with the zippered pocket.
