Easy to set up and use
Both sensors are very easy to install and use. I use it in combination with the elemnt bolt, it took me about 10 min to install both and pair it with my Elemnt Bolt. The speed sensor is wel designed, it comes with a rubber band that loops over the hub, it makes it very easy to install and take it off when switching bikes. I don't understand why they didn't use the same design for the cadence sensor. Get rid of the zip-ties and you have a great product. The zip-ties do the job but I prefer the rubber band. They included a 3M adhesive as well, but I had more confidence in using the zip-ties on the cadence sensor.
Great, but buy from physical store
I have two bikes, bought the speed and cadence twice. The first from a shop, and the second I ordered via Internet. Most importantly, I like the product a lot. Easy to mount and setup. But, the product that came to via Internet was used. I thought that the packaging was simply smashed up in transit but some of the ties to mount were missing. This wasn't a problem as I enough were included. But what is annoying is that the batteries in both are down to just over half strength. Am annoyed that I paid regular price and got something that was clearly returned. Otherwise though, I love the Wahoo Bolt.
Really enjoying the sensors
I purchased a ELEMNT at Christmas after my old Garmin stopped charging. I am loving the ELEMNT. In January I picked up the sensors. I live in New England but Ride year round. The speed sensor is on my road bike, so I've only used a few times. I really like the cadence sensor and the shoe attachment. I am using in both mtb and road bike to keep my cadence steady. It had helped me not over spin on uphills. I am extremely happy with their performance and setup took about 5 minutes, including attaching to bike, shoes and connecting to wahoo ELEMNT and app. So far they exceed my expectation.
Not for Flemish roads.
Easy setup, the speed sensor is also easy to switch from one wheel to another, even works on front and rear wheel. Would also like to see the cadans sensor with some kind of elastic band instead of zipties to make it more interchangeable (like the speed sensor). The dual transimission (ANT+ and BLE) works perfect. The problem with these sensors is the fact that they work based on accelerometer. Which is fine on smooth roads, but the road here in Flanders make the sensors struggle. Sometimes I get jumps in figures for kilometers on end (holding my cadence but seeing it report anywhere between 50 and 90, same fluctuations with speed). So for less then perfect roads I'm afraid this is a flawed product.
Battery low on arrival
Seems like they will be good but the Battery of speed sensor arrived low so I’ll need to replace it already. 🤷♂️
I made the right decision!
Before my purchase I spent quite a bit of time trying to decide between the Blue SC and the RPM Speed and Cadence sensors. I ended up going with the RPM bundle as it seemed easier to quickly move between bikes and I was excited to try accelerometer based sensors. Installation was straightforward and quick. After the first couple of weeks and 150 Miles of Las Vegas streets and alleys the sensors have held up well, and the data seems accurate and consistent. I've never been an exercise or bicycling person, but having data from the RPM Speed and Cadence sensors and my TCKR heart rate monitor has really turned improving my health into a fun and challenging habit. For once in my life I seem to have made the right decision. ;)
Sensors
Cadence and speed sensors work great
Good basic sensors, compatible with Strava app
I was able to install these on my bike by myself, and I am not the tech-savviest person around. It would have been nice if they came with instructions in the box, but I was able to find instructions online and even YouTube videos that helped me out. They sync nicely with my Android phone and my Strava app. Attaching the speed sensor to the bike hub was tricky - find someone with small hands to get in between the spokes. The cadence sensor comes with zip ties to attach to the crank - but what do I do when I have to cut them eventually to change the battery?
The hardware works great; it'
The hardware works great; it' simple to install (no magnets!) and very easy to sync with the app. One problem I had was that when the cadence sensor was in it's holder it was too big for the gap between the crank arm and the chain stay. It did fit without the holder. This might be very specific to my (Trek Emonda) frame, so it doesn't affect my rating, but something to check before buying. The only real concern I had is that the app tends to use a lot of battery power on my iPhone. Not an issue for 2-3 hour rides but might be for longer ones.
Both sensors lack accuracy
Bought the bundle to replace the BlueSC and go magnet less, I must say both sensors are very inaccurate. First of all the RPM that even if installed correctly varies +/- 5rpm around a constant pedal frequency on the trainer. Not to speak of outdoor riding, were bumps and rough terrain apparently affect the accuracy. Also, the sensor just go to a "safe" 80 rpm when the data is not good, the trend of the cadence is then plotted around this frequency, which unacceptable for a top product like this, apparently used in the TdF by Team Sky... The speed sensor is ok, still over a 15 mile ride, its off by almost 0.5 miles, even with adjusted circumference to compensate for my 700Cx25. If I had not sold the BlueSC to a friend, I would go back tomorrow...
