Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it so much! I just finished my first hike using the Crux in my pack and I loved it. I have been using Antidotes up until now and they worked well on the trail, but I always had to struggle to close the bladder after filling it. Something about the way it threaded just always got messed up and I ended up with lots of spilt water. The Crux's closure on the other hand was very easy to use. This got my hike started on the right foot - I didn't waste time (and make a mess!) trying to get my water loaded. I ordered the bite valve cover to go with this and it installed easily. I'm looking forward to many happy years of hiking with the Crux - and I'll be getting rid of my frustrating Antidotes!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tube Kinked Instantly I bought this to replace a CamelBak Antidote reservoir. Although some features of the new designs are improvements, overall, it is worse. The Antidote had flip-out plastic arms that held it open to dry after cleaning it, while this one has no way to keep it open. Worse, the very first time I used it, the tube kinked when I bent it to bring the mouthpiece to my mouth. Now I have to use both hands to drink to keep the kink from closing. I never had an issue with the tube remaining permanently kinked on the Antidote. I have now had occasion to wash the bag twice, and discovered that the baffle has already started to tear away from the bag on one side. Looks like I will have to go back to my old leaky Antidote, since getting replacement warranty parts via the CamelBak website is not yet possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10 state Harley ride with this excellent reservoir Not sure why all of the neg reviews on cleaning and use but this thing is very easy to dry out and works perfectly at 80 mph on a Harley you have to be smarter than the reservoir Yes hose when it's hot out gets very pliable but what product wouldn't just have to be smarter than the hose To clean 2 paper towels empty out the water then wipe out u can get around the hose attachment area and then once again for a almost complete dried out reservoir I then took a spaghetti spoon and stuck it inside to keep the reservoir open woke up the next morning and it was dried out Other than that most of you are on two feet I was on my Harley 10 states mostly 80 mph and it was flawless I truly don't see myself needing to purchase a new one ever

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hydration Bladder This bladder is excellent. The new handle and wide opening make it easy to fill. Once filled, the lid seals securely and does not leak. I've used it on several hikes already and have come to appreciate the wider hose that allows for the flow of more water. When done using, the bladder is easy to clean, hang dry, and store in the freezer in order to prevent mold. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used for 11 mile hike I brought this a month ago in anticipation to a camping trip I had coming up. I would recommend this bladder for a day hike. I used it while I was hiking the Pinnacle, the Pulpit Rock and a small portion of the Appalachian trail in PA. The hike took approximately 11 miles hiking at about 16-18 miles per hour. I did small sips (no gulping). I rated this a four (would had done 4 1/2 it I had an option) because I want to point out that this bladder held 3 1/2 bottles of 16.9oz of Poland spring water. It should hold up to 4 full bottles. However, the wide mouth design made it impossible to fill bladder to the brim without leaking out. Other than this, I like my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thicker than previous models Ultimately it works and does what it should. If you tend to fill your bag (backpacking or small daypacks) I would explore other options. If you don't it's fine. Here's why: Camelbak changed the design from previous models. This is now a bit slimmer in width, (note the V-shape). To hold the same volume of water, it has to puff out deeper, taking up space in your bag. Older models carried the same water, but slightly more flat. Also in person, the handle seems way bigger than it needs to be and further takes up space.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can't wait to get rid of it I've had this one for 3 years, and I constantly find myself looking for excuses not to take it on trips. Water tasted awful and chemical in it from day one, and continues to do so after the many uses. The lid (at least on the older model, although the new doesn't look that different) is supremely uncomfortable to use. The circular opening and the difficulty of closing it almost always guaranteed water spilling all over. In the past year, it's developed a leak and difficulties closing to boot. Asked someone for a different bladder for xmas and can't wait to get rid of this thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definite Improvement I have used this bladder only a few times, but so far, it is far superior to the old one I replaced. The wide opening is easier to seal tight, and the valve is ever so much easier to operate.

Does the tube fit in existing tube holders on the packs now that it is claimed to be larger to allow more flow?

Asked by: Palolojack
Although the tube on this reservoir is larger than other CamelBak reservoirs, it still fits in all of the same packs. The tube size does affect the fit.

Does this come with a loop at the top to hang inside the pack? I have an REI Traverse 40 that has a hook at the top of the pack to keep the bladder in place.

Asked by: Sondra
Yes, this reservoir has a plastic hook at the top for attaching to backpacks.
