Larger diameter drinking tube
Peaceman4
CamelBak introduced a larger diameter drinking tube to allow 20% more water per sip. The main issue with that is that the tube collapses and kinks much easier than the original tube. Secondly the larger diameter tube makes it harder to clip into older hydration bags tube clips. Using this hydration bladder in an older hydration pack as a replacement may not be ideal. It works as advertised on the new bags that are designed around the tubes limitations.

Lid leaks
Mike
I purchased a camelbak that came with this reservoir for my daughter about 9 months ago. The lid is a pain to get closed without it leaking really bad. It either leaks really bad, where the 1.5 liters drains in about 30 seconds of the pack being upside down or at a constant drip.

Unsure

Camelbak is usually a very dependable brand, but unfortunately I think I may have gotten a defective product. I was very excited to use this on my hiking trip to the ADKs. However once I filled it with water, tightened the seal, and lifted it upright to put it in my pack water began pouring out of it. After looking at it for a while I determined that the leak was the result of a defect. I believe that the opening/handle is not correctly attached to the water pouch. I plan on sending it back in an exchange for a new one hoping that it will be fully-functioning.

Leaks every now and then

I really wanted to like this product but unfortunately it sometimes leaks. I have checked and there's no hole. It's probably the connection between the tube and the bag that sometimes leaks. Twice it has leaked in my backpack ruining books and getting extra clothes wet. In order to use it I've had to fill it overnight and leave it in a bowl to make sure it hasn't leaked before I pack it. This is a real nuisance and I am contemplating returning it.

It works extremely well for a child

I bought this a month ago for a very small child. She drinks out of it everywhere we go best hydration set up. No leaks no mess it's great. And the child can easily operate it. Bonus feature is extremely easy to put in the child's backpack and easy to take out and extremely easy to refill

Good but a little hard to close without leaks

Got this as a backup for my current one because the reservoirs always go first while the vest is still fine. It's a good size and I do like the ability to shut off the valve. Easy to flip from on to off, even while running. The hold handle for filling is very useful. Only issue - you do need to be very careful while closing it. It's very easy to get just a bit off as you screw it shut, not quite catching. Then it will leak all over everything. The only way you know you've got it wrong is that one side might be uneven by ~1/16th inch. Other than that, it feels like it closed. As long as you check for leaks, though, it is just dandy. I use it in the vest for both trail running and street running.

Good just got better!

The new design is a lot better than the previous one with some big improvements. The lid seals a lot better. Nothing worse than having a volunteer at an aid station try to get the lid on correctly. This design is fast and easy, so no more water coming down your back when it isn't sealed right. The new valve is awesome, and won't be coming apart like the old design. Thanks Camelbak!!

Leaks Badly

Cap was screwed on correctly and securely yet it leaked badly at the top of the seal. When I went to buy an alternative the salesperson acknowledged she has heard of this issue from others.

Leaked

I bought this to replace my Osprey bladder and used it about three times. I was filling it prior to a race (of course it breaks before a race!) and water poured out around the lid’s seal. There’s no obvious tear or anything, it just leaks out under the seal and I’ve been unable to fix it.
