Great for hiking and biking
I had an older version of this bladder and it lasted for a long time. I just replaced it with this and it works really well. The big improvements are the added handle and the quick release button for the hose at the bottom of the bladder. The shape is different than the one that came with my pack but it seems to work just fine. Some of the negative reviews on here seem to be about the screw top. I always give the bladder a gentle squeeze right after filling it to make sure everything is secure. If it’s not screwed on correctly it’s user error not the product.

Big improvement but lacks accessories
Big improvement in the valve and leakage in the cap. However they removed the fold out cleaning bars and there are no accessories for these new Crux Models. The stores sells all the accessories for the old model but don't carry the old model in the stores anymore. Most accessories like the valve cover and thermal regulator for the old version will not fit on this new one

Great so Far

Used this for the first time in the back country. I love the connivance of quick access to a drink. THis is my first time using a CamelBak. I love not having to stop for 5 min to pull out water bottles out of my pack. Using this with my backpack I don't even have to stop to get water. I find myself sipping over time and am able to cover much more ground hiking much faster. One thing I am still working out is how to dry it out after use. It can be tricky for all the moisture to dry out.

Leaks Horribly

This bladder came with my CamelBak M.U.L.E. It leaks horribly. We've attempted to use it 3 different times and each time it is a struggle to get the cap on the right way. And even with the best attempt, it will still leak. And this slight leak is enough to cause the inside of your bag to be fairly wet. CamelBak - you really should compensate people due to this horrible design. The washer part of the lid doesn't even fit the right way to create a seal. It is too big to seal both on the bladder itself and for the lid. The picture shows me holding the washer even on one side which shows it too big on the other side. Extremely poor design.

Still a bit undecided.

Purchased this not too long ago and have a couple chances to use it inside an Osprey pack. The lid design is a bit bulky in my opinion but it does make it easy to fill and empty. I don't have a lot of experience with these bladders so I can't really compare. This just seems excessive and feels like it could be a breaking point I will also say that it took several attempts to get this to not leak when closed. I thought I was careful to ensure the lid was installed correctly, but when turning it over to check, it would leak. The next few attempts worked fine. Maybe the seal needed to be seated better? I'm currently on the fence about keeping this.

Will Last Forever!!!!

I have owned this reservoir for about 5 years and it has held up great. I am probably not the most gentle person with my gear (thanks to my clumsiness), so it says a lot that I have had this reservoir for 5 years. ;) I do not understand the bad reviews on this… seems like user error to me and quite nit-picky! Many of those things listed in the negative reviews can be fixed. Take care of this reservoir properly and it will last you a long time! Two other features I enjoy: 1.) I love how I can squeeze water out of the straw for my dog’s bowl (there is not always a stream for him to drink from) and 2.) it has fit perfectly in my other packs I have for backpacking! I will continue to use this for all of my adventures! Thanks CamelBak :)

Tricky to close properly so it doesn't leak

I was ready to return my pack with this reservoir (due to leakage) until I read a review with a video about how to properly close the tank. After following the instructions, it no longer leaks. It does seem a little tricky with the ring, which could have been the problem, but it is no longer leaking in the house and I will be sure to test it hiking and keep my fingers crossed. Otherwise, I love the larger size, perfect for going hiking with the dogs so I can carry enough water for all of us.

Leaks like all the rest

I've had at least 2 if not 3 now that leak from the hose connector. Thought it was the O-ring on the hose side (which could be fixed) but from squeezing the bladder, it looks like it's more likely from inside the quick connect mechanism. That's on top of the cap, which I learned to always twist "off" before trying to twist on... which works, but I don't get how they made it so it tries to cross thread (which is what causes about all of the cap leaks) basically 100% of the time unless you do that. Wouldn't be bad, it they managed to make the hose connector not leak. Don't know about you, but I take the hose off infrequently enough, I'd be fine with something like a screw-down connection... About leaks

I have used Camelback reservoirs for many years. The only times I have had to deal with leaks is when I have misaligned the threads on the screw-on caps. It is unfortunately easy to do. My cure? Every time I fill the reservoir, after I screw on the filler cap, I turn the reservoir upside down. If it leaks, I unscrew the cap and re-screw it. If it doesn't leak, I have never had a problem. I usually wrap the bag in a towel to act as insulation before I put it in my pack. Towel remains dry.

Poor design, leaks; step back from previous gen.

3 trips out with this reservoir and every time its caused me frustration. First and foremost is the absolutely poor design of the fill cap. If you don't seat it perfectly, you will have wet tent, pack, etc and a dry mouth. The previous version had 2 small, rotating arms that helped keep the mouth of the fill hole open while drying or filling, this version they wanted to make filling and drying much harder on the user, and they succeeded. Really, really wish they would have stayed with the previous generation and I will begin my hunt to find some more of those.

Not like the old one

Bought this to replace on the one in my lobo that had had for many years. The tube with the reservoir is larger and has more flow which is good, although the tube is to large for the magnetic clip that came with my pack. It does not appear a new clip to accept the larger tube is available. The new reservoir also deleted the “wings” wround the mouth of the reservoir that was used to keep it open while drying the reservoir out. The new on/off valve may be useful for some but I never thought I was in need of one. The new on/off valve is not at 90 deg making drinking not as easy for me as the previous design. The larger reservoir make filling easier
