Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, Warm Boots I've had these boots for two seasons. I go outside in the snow and cold everyday. They keep my feet warm and dry. They are very comfortable. I have a lot of chronic foot pain and these are the only boots I can wear. They also have a nice roomy toe box. The reason I give these a 4 instead of 5 is that the top 3 eyelets (or whatever you string your laces through ) are made of plastic.. The top one broke off on one boot shortly after I got them. Keen replaced them, but the new pair had the same thing happen. Unfortunately the boots will not stay laced very well this way. I'm sure they would replace them again, but it would be better if they fixed the problem with the boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No worries at all when it's slushing/snowing My biggest concern by far was finding a boot that kept my feet warm and had traction. I already own a pair of Keen walking shoes and knew their products keep feet comfortable. This boot keeps my feet so warm and dry in freezing and snowy conditions that they don't even feel like I've been outside. I will say, though, even with the traction on the bottom, I almost slipped on the floor inside a NYC subway. Albeit it was on a decline, but I had hoped even on slippery surfaces it would provide more security. However, the conditions in the subway were treacherous so I don't necessarily think it's the boots' faults. I should note that I haven't gone hiking in these. The buying half size bigger recommendation is spot on. Normally, I would get a 10.5 to ensure my toes had enough room. I tried on in-store and bought an 11 and couldn't be happier. It also gives me room to wear heavier socks if I want. I question the woolly removable thermal heat shield footbeds because once you take them out, there's no other lining left and likely wouldn't be comfortable to walk on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT waterproof These are not waterproof in snow. They're comfortable and light weight, but your feet will not stay dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm feet I have had these boots for over a year. I love these boots! My feet stay warm and dry if walking in snow. If you are walking in deep water puddles, no your feet will be wet. I have gotten to the point I put these on in the morning and wear them all day. My dog has me outside more then inside.

I need a warm, comfortable winter hiking boot for low snow conditions (will use gaiters in deep snow), long day hikes, outside temps 0 - 20 F. My feet get cold easily but comfort comes first. These say 'snowsports' but does that mean hiking steep hills?

Asked by: GGoose
These boots are great for snowsports. They are comfort rated down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit and can handle a variety of terrain conditions. For steep terrain, we recommend winter traction devices with snow boots. https://www.rei.com/c/winter-traction-devices
