Good lenses terrible frame materials
I bought the Guides Choice Matte Havana Chromapop glasses December 2018 for Christmas and after only a handful of uses the finish is peeling off of the frames. The frames are not made of a solid "tortoise shell" material. They are instead made of clear plastic frames that are painted/coated to look like "tortoise shell" and the finish just peels right off. Pretty pathetic for a $200+ pair of glasses when I've had $10-$20 glasses with better quality frames. Mine are currently being shipped to Smith, at my own expense, to see if they will honor their "lifetime" warranty
Smith Guide's Choice ChromaPop Polarized Sunglass
I've been wearing Smith sunglasses for over two decades. These sunglasses are phenomenal! I barely know I'm wearing them because they are so light. The included integrated strap design is essential to me so I don't drop them like others before.
Best pair of glasses on earth.
These are hands-down the best classes I've ever owned. They have the most clear lens, the most comfortable frame, and the best coverage. They fit my face perfectly. They are pricey, but worth it. Zero regrets.
Great on the water
Bought these for my grandson, an environmental scientist with Ca. Wildlife & Fisheries. He spends many hours on the Pacific Ocean. In his words "they are 'awesome' better than I expected".
Good glasses, excellent replacement purchase
This purchase was a replacement purchase. My husband bought these same style glasses a year ago. While we were out west, he had them in his ski jacket breast pocket. Because of the cold, when he took them out of the pocket apré ski, the nose area had cracked due to the cold. When we returned home, I suggested he go in to REI to see if they would replace them. Although we had to add a bit to the purchase because the pricing had gone up, REI did replace them. They are great glasses, protective from the sun, and polarized for when you are on the water. Overall, great glasses.
Nice glasses with one issue
Overall these are great, nice optics. Wore on an incredibly windy beach day and no sand in the eyes, which is very important to us contact wearers. However, the goggle-like quality causes them to fog up in the center of the lenses. Also, my husband bought a pair last November and a nice case was included, so I was pretty disappointed that mine came without a case.
Great until they aren't
Absolutely loved Smith products. My last pair of fishing glasses lasted 6 years before I stepped on them and broke them. Bought the howler bros guides choice qnd loved the color and how light they are. Until the lenses started to discolor after 4 months. Looked like an oil spot. Smith said send them in and I lived with it. They offered to look at them and replace for 60 percent off or free if it was a discount. Slightly frustrating for sunglasses under a year old and almost $200. Fast forward to wearing them on the boat with the supplies retainer. The wind caught them and ripped them right off my neck. I was not doing anything wrong nor did the retainer show signs of wear and tear and my boat isnt even fast. Guess you cant wear the retainer while on the water. Ironic for q pair of glasses that claim to be "guides choice"Called Smith and asked if I could possibly get the 60%. Nope. Nothing offered until I fought. Smith does not stand behind their product so after being a loyal customer since 2001 with snow goggles, helmets, bike glasses and several pairs of fishing glasses I will gladly move on to another brand. Offered a 20 percent discount when your pro form is 40. Hope you enjoy that minute savings vs loss of business as it comes time to replace and upgrade. Wait until your lenses peel and then your retainer fails while hung around your neck on the boat. You're all the sudden out $180 pair of glasses.
Comfortable
I love Smith sunglasses! Super comfortable and excellent protection
Don't use for driving - no peripheral vision
Lenses are nice. Glasses themselves are form-fitting to my face and fog up easily - no airflow. Arms are very wide and take peripheral vision to zero. Can't use them for driving. too hot, not safe to use driving - I threw mine out.
Makes driving easier.
I love the way these glasses look and feel. My vision with these glasses while driving has increased my safety.
