Caution: fits only the XT model
This extension does not fit (mesh with) previous models (mine purchased in 2015) of the Canyon basket. Although the dimensions of the older models of the Canyon and the XT model are the same, the fitment of the basket components is different. The product description does not make that distinction. The problem: the two parts of the older versions of the Canyon mesh with both male and female inserts on each side - front and back. The extension needs to mesh with the same. The XT extension, however, is designed to mesh only with the XT basket that has all-male (front) and all-female (back) inserts.
2015 RAV4 XLE, stock crossbars. Very satisfied.
Wrote a more detailed note on Canyon XT page, so just a highlight: - easy assembly to fit within Canyon XT. - 2015 RAV4 stock crossbars are weak, so only loaded basket with approx 55+lbs camping gear for maiden voyage. Will upgrade crossbars to take advantage of basket's weight capacity. - felt completely happy with a 4hr drive up to 75MPH, with plenty of turns and some average bumps (not offroading). Screws didn't loosen, and didn't notice much humming as other racks create.
