At last a good belt for air travelers
While this may have been around for a while, for me it is a new and welcome discovery. Don't you hate taking of your belt in the security line? Well now you don't have to. A nice looking belt, made of web-stock that isn't so "military", but gives the durability of webbing over lighter leather or canvas belts in hot, sweaty temps. The nylon filled buckle should stand up to use, too. Colors were a bit limited in the store, but I chose every-use-black, likely the best for travel, anyway.
USA made and Cheap!
Excellent belt buckle. The only problem if you could call it a problem is that the material is hard to push through the plastic buckle. Instead of weakening the plastic by widening it, I chose to taper the nylon belt to make it easier to insert. Other than that I expect this belt to last for many years.
Adequate
There are not many airport-friendly belts on the market, so when I saw this one by Bison, I purchased it on impulse. After reading some negative reviews, I was worried I had made a mistake. But after trying it, I think the Elliptagon belt performs just fine. My old airport friendly belt was difficult to readjust after loosening. With the Elliptagon, I don’t have that problem. I keep it attached to the tag end, loosening or cinching it when needed. All plastic construction means one less item to think about during airport security. Also, I like the minimal size and flexible nylon webbing. Unlike traditional belts with buckles, when bending down/crouching, I don’t feel anything digging into my gut!
Great lightweight and Sturdy Belt
I bought this as a lightweight belt for hiking. Does exactly what I bought if for. The length is a little long but this doesn't bother me. You can always cut it shorter. I think the buckle will last a long time and seems very sturdy. The only problem with the buckle is that it's a little difficult to tighten and undo. However it definitely doesn't come loose on long hikes.
Decent
This belt worked for me as a regular everyday belt and a backpacking belt. The ONLY place it didn't work for me (and my reason for 4 stars instead of 5) was at the airport! EVERY security check i have been through has made me take it off no matter what i said. It may not have metal on it but they'll still make you remove it because they don't care to check it visually and they know most people will just take it off instead of arguing in the security line. Don't buy this belt if you are buying it specifically for it being "airport friendly". I didn't have an issue with it slipping much especially once it broke in and created a crease at the spot I usually wear it.
Perfect belt for the frequent traveler.
I bought this especially to wear to the airport, but on my last trip, it's the only belt I wore. The buckle is easy to adjust and secure, the belt itself is stiff-enough braid that it doesn't roll over, and best of all, it's TSA-compliant. Goes right through the scanners without a chirp. The only thing it lacks is a "keeper" for the end, and I found a #17 O-ring does a perfect, discreet job of that.
Either the buckle slips or the belt stretches
I'm a bit disappointed so far. I have another Bison belt with a coarser texture and a buckle that can be adjusted. I was hoping for similar but this buckle is very hard to adjust and the belt seems to get looser as I wear it. Tightening the belt entails loosening the lead and pulling they the back part to adjust and hoping it will hold while I reinsert the lead to tighten it. When I get a new bell I donate one of mine to a local homeless charity. This may go straight there if I can't get it to work better.
Buckle difficult to tighten - teeth on both sides
I purchased this belt in-store at REI. I am not sure why there are teeth on both sides of this buckle. This design makes it very difficult to tighten since I feel like it takes about 2.5 hands and 12 fingers to get it tight. I tried to shave the teeth off of one side of it to make it usable where I could pull it through more easily. Success with this was limited since I probably needed a rotary tool due to the hardness of the plastic buckle. Since I do not have much of a bum, my pants tend to want to fall with this belt not being tight enough. If the buckle design were better, I would be much happier with this purchase. I have had more success with the Arcade belts (with plastic buckles) which are also sold in-store at REI. I now own two Arcade belts.
Great Belt
This is a great belt. It is inexpensive, durable, and works well. Being all nylon means water doesn't affect it at all. It is also easy to feed through loops and the buckle doesn't slip. My only regret is all they time I wasted with leather belts.
Solid
This belt does all it needs to for a decent price. Keeps my pants up on long hikes and doesn’t sag with bear spray on my hip.
