Disappointed
It started as a good pump. Although it needed a larger hose and a more free flowing head for the volume per pump. But great having a constant low pressure target for most mtb tires. Who cares if 23 psi = 20 psi. Set it up to where you want it every time and done. But after a year, the check valve has partially failed already. That not only makes it difficult getting air in(have to wait a second or two between each stroke) but if you take pressure off the handle, it springs back in you face! Topeak quality used to be decent but really has gone downhill sadly.
Great Pump
In concurrence with many other reviews, my Dualie gauge was off by 3lbs. It read 27lbs when it was actually 24. I simply removed and reinstalled the bezel with the numbers rotated 3lbs clockwise. The gauge now reads accurately throughout the range. I also have the single gauge Fat pump from Topeak, which is accurate. The pumps are great with quick inflation, tubeless seating, and low pressure gauges.
This pump is a beast
I have a couple of bikes that range from 2.3 29er tires to 27.5 + 2.8 tires and this pump will allow me to adjust all, tires to the correct pressure needed. I run 16-18 in the plus bike and around 28-32 in the 29" bike. The dual gauges and huge volume on each stroke get the job done quickly and accurately.
Low pressure gauge not accurate
I bought this pump especially for the low and high pressure readout hoping that all those reviews that complain about the inaccurate low pressure gauge were a random thing. Comparing it to my calibrated digital gauge that I use in my shop it shows that it is 3psi off as many others have reported. The majority of my use will be 10-15psi and in that range 3psi is unacceptable. Overall the pump is all plastic and leaves rather a cheap impression than a quality product. Lets see how long it will last. For the DIY guys, with the use of a knife blade you can popp the PSI scale ring and also the sight glass off the low pressure gauge. Using a little precision pliers you can hold the brass knob in the center and actually rotate the pointer on the shaft a couple degrees in order to adjust the wrong readout (marking the location before you start helps). I was able to get the gauge pretty accurate as far as the rough scale will allow it.
Great Idea, but creates too much pressure loss
Someone PLEASE CORRECT ME if i'm missing something, but the dual head creates a pressure release on the opposite end of the valve whenever the locking lever is release. ie you apply the pump valve to your tire valve core, and immediately air starts escaping from the opposite end until you lock the valve. This isn't terrible, but the locking lever takes a lot of force. you pump your tire up to desired pressure, and then unlock the valve for removal, but as soon as you unlock the lever the hemorrhaging of air starts again until you are able to pull the pump valve free from your tire...which is difficult. I've learned to pump a tire quite a bit over desired pressure to account for this. Plus the removal is so difficult, my hand has gotten cut open a few times on the cassette due to the force require for removal.
Can even seat tubeless tires!
Solid floor pump with plenty of volume to help pop tubeless tires into the bead.
leaks air, inaccurate at low pressures
head leaks air at low pressures i.e. 12-16 lbs for 2.8 plus size tires. You can swap out the head for a Smarthead, but you will lose the ability to bleed to the proper pressure. And, really the killer, the low pressure gauge is 2-4 lbs off which is completely not acceptable for fat or plus size tire where 2 lbs in pressure is a HUGE difference. I tested the pressure with a Topeak electronic AND a low pressure 0-30psi Accugauge. Will return and try another - the benefit of buying at REI!
disappointing
The lever is really stiff, making it difficult to lock on. When you’re done, flipping the lever let’s a ton of air out as it free flows out the other side. Finally, the low pressure gauge is inaccurate and doesn’t even live up with the higher pressure gauge much less 2 others I have here. Returned after 1 day
Must have for Fat & Plus bike owners
The first and most obviously reason you NEED a fat bike specific pump is that the typical target pressures you run these tires at simply don't register on the gauges of most pumps. Depending on the time of year, I run as low as 3-5 psi and typically no more than around 10 psi. Most floor pumps gauges start at 10 psi. This pump having the dual gauge set up is really the best of both worlds, and the fact that it goes all the way up to 75 psi would cover virtually everything from Fat tires to conventional MTB tires, as well as some larger volume cross/gravel tires (depending on your pressure preference). The little yellow button to release a little bit of pressure and "fine tune" is a much welcomed feature as well. All of my obvious expectations in terms of fat bikes were met with this pump, and I am quite pleased. What the pump doesn't necessarily advertise (but really excels at) is seating tubeless tires. This thing pushes a lot of air on each stroke, and I've found it to be so nice for seating tubeless tires that I really don't feel the need to buy one of the "instant release" type of tanks that are on the market specifically aimed at seating tubeless tires. Even if you don't own plus or fat tire bikes, if you've got tubeless tires this pump would be a great fit. Unless you are a road biker running 80+ psi, this pump would be a great "one and only" pump for anyone to have.
Great for fat tire bike or 650B+ size
Love the huge gauge for the low pressure 0 to 30 range. Nice large numbers, lots of resolution. Lots of air per stroke. Gave it 4-stars because I don't love the double/ quick-release valve. Can be challenging to get on valve stem properly. Also, quality doesn't seem as high as my Specialized pump. But the huge 0-to-30 gauge is what sets this pump apart.
