Arrived broken - works well enough
This product arrived broken. I think it is mostly cosmetic damage but it's frustrating to start off with a less than perfect product.
Serves Its Intended Purpose
Have been using this on all our family's bikes that have tire sizes: 700c x 25, 26" x 1.95", 18" and 16". These tires have Presta and Schrader valves. This pump handles them quite easily. The user only has to remember which pump head goes to which valve type, which way to flip the locking lever and things are pretty straightforward. This pump can inflate a road tire from no air to the desired psi in about 20 strokes. But MTB tires will take longer because of its bigger volume. The longer hose enables the pump to be used on a bike that's on a workstand. The dial gauge is small but clear. There is a bit of glare however and eyeglass wearers might need a bit of squinting in order to see the intended PSI. It won't stand to a punishing the way a shop-grade pump can, but with some TLC, this pump should last a good 5 or more years. And in case, its part(s) do fail, Topeak assures that it can be repaired and/or replaced.
Great pump at a fair price
Going from a mini-pump to this pump was a tremendous change for the better. This pump's nozzle is easy to use (once you realize the yellow thing turns AWAY from the valve, duh) and while not "easy" the pump can quickly go from 60psi to 100psi in about 5 pumps. The base is not the strongest material and when you're pushing 100psi and you're wobbling it seems like you might break it but it holds together. The dial is easy to read and there's even a little marker that you can move to what psi you're aiming for. I've used this pump every couple of days for about a month now and would certainly recommend it.
Short life span
I bought this pump from a recommendation from the bike shop associate at REI saying this is the best quality pump that lasts forever. I guess forever means about 2 years. My pump broke and I brought it to REI to see if it was user error. The associate said that this is common with this pump and sometimes the internal parts just fail and you have to take it apart, buy the parts that broke and reassemble it. I also emailed Topeak to see if they would just send me the replacement and received no answer. I dont recommend something that will just fail and the company not respond to fix the issue.
Huge design flaw
The pump head has a terrible design flaw - when the yellow valve lever is in the middle position, and the pump head is pushed onto a tire valve, air shoots out of the opposite side of the pump head. When you push the valve lever into position the leak stops, but when you open the lever to remove the pump head, the tire loses air quickly until the pump head is removed from the tire valve, rendering the gauge rather useless. I contacted Topeak and their customer service manager told me "this is how the head is designed". Buy from a different company.
Good pump but now broken.
I bought this pump exactly 2 years ago and have been very satisfied with it until today. The pressure gauge no longer works correctly. Even on a full tire the gauge measures 0 - 20 psi. The pump still works but you can't measure the air pressure. On the positive, there's never been a problem with how well the Presta valve fits or works and the pump works smoothly. I will search for solutions and update the review.
Trusty Pump
Several years ago I purchased this floor pump, as a novice bike owner who originally didn't realize that bike tires naturally lose pressure over time. So, I wanted a simple and reliable pump. As somebody who now has two bikes, bike-commutes and pleasure-rides regularly, and has both Presta and Schraeder valves, this pump has held up excellently. It pumps air quickly, is a stable platform, and has a convenient little marker I can rotate around the air pressure gauge, to help me easily identify how much air I want to pump into my tires. I'm a bit more experienced of a bike rider these days, but I'm glad this pump does everything I need. It pumps air into my tires reliably, and without much difficulty!
Does exactly what I need!
I've needed to own a pump for a long time - since I needed both a Schrader and a Presta valve, this seemed like a good purchase. I haven't regretted it yet! The pump is smooth, the PSI guage seems very accurate, and the valve enclosure is tight and doesn't leak. What else could you need?
Easy to use & less expensive than some
I love how easy this pump is to connect to presta valves, which has often posed challenges for me (sad, I know). This mechanism connected easily and quickly. Pump works great.
Good road bike pump
Good pump with simple to use chuck that's replaceable and smooth pumping at high pressure. I mainly use it for my road bike and fill up to 110psi. The barrel is thinner so at that pressure it's pretty smooth and accurate. For bigger tires like mountain bikes or cruisers, it will take a few more strokes to fill but still manageable.
