Don't waste your $
Have been camping with this item for about a week now. It is nothing more than a bucket with lid and an ill-fitting toilet seat. The recommended liners are also a joke. What exactly you ask is wrong with it? (1) seat slides around and if you're not quite awake you'll get dumped on the ground, (2) liners are ill fitting and DO NOT facilitate dumping of waste, (3) it smells--unless that lid is really on tight and sometime if it is and (4) it doesn't come with any instructions. Spend and extra $25 and get yourself a small marine porta-potty from someone like Amazon. I did and camping is now much for pleasant
We take it everywhere!
We take it everywhere! I have two small children, so we take this everywhere with us. There’s no need to buy expensive bags, I double line it in a trash bag, that works just fine. We had one we’ve used for over 10 years, and just lost it last week in a freeway mishap. I am buying another one this week, couldn’t live without it. We go on day trips almost every weekend, and make sure to bring this with us. I had tried the luggable Lou, the one with the toilet seat that you put on top of a 5 gallon bucket, the toilet seat on legs that a bag just hangs from, and the Hassock is far superior. I am buying another one this week, couldn’t live without it. So much easier to use, that we can actually set it up inside the car for my children to use. We just push the driver seat all the way forward, and set it up on the floor behind it.
Peace of Mind
We haven't actually used this portable toilet in our van for its intended purpose yet -- and, oh by the way, that's good news! We do lots of road trips and, frankly, our purpose in this purchase was to have a "potty" always available for emergencies (which seem to occur more and more frequently). We keep both of the stow-and-go captain's chairs stowed and we position the "potty" near the back bench seat. We also add a piece of non-stick fabric on top of it so that it can double as a sort of makeshift "end table" when someone is sitting or lying down on the very back seat. But, honestly, if all this ever became was "peace of mind," it would be so well worth it.
Good for the Price
We have used this for several years now. It's simple and easy. Great to have for in the middle of the night especially when you have children. I just add a little bit of water in the removable bucket before use. Next morning empty at the campground bathhouse and wipe clean with Clorox towelettes until better cleaning at home.
