I really like these pants! I have a couple pairs of Koen capris, so I knew I was going to like these pants. My first time wearing them was on a backpacking trip in the beginning of June with temps in the 70s, wearing them multiple days in a row. They did start to pill quickly where it was rubbing against something I was carrying on one side, which basically my only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. They are very lightweight and quick to dry, easy to pull on and off. So glad I purchased them! I am size XS for PrAna pants at 5'4'' and around 118 lbs, typically size 2 or 4 depending on the brand and pant style.
I'm appealing to Prana to make this Koen Daily Pant (and Koen collection) more available to the older, avid, outdoor women's community. At present Prana offers very limited colors and sizes in 1X-3X. Many of us in our 60's not only seek the larger sizes but also other color options such as sand, beige, mushroom, etc. We want the same style opportunities as the "youthful set"—the ability to wear these pants from a 5-mile trail hike directly to a casual lunch or a day of errands and shopping. Please give serious consideration to the market value of our age group. Many current studies show the senior demographic to be one of the fastest-growing segments in the outdoor industry. PrAna could lead the industry in recognizing that style and adventure don't stop at age 60 or at size XL.
Love these pants -- super-lightweight and flexible, perfect for warm weather activities or just out and about. The waistband is wide and comfy, and I love that the drawstring is internal rather than external (doesn't interrupt the flow of a top that isn't tucked in). I now have three in different colors. I'm 165 lb and 5'6, and the large size fits perfectly. The Newberry color is not as deep as pictured -- it's lighter, more of a clay color. Still pretty and a keeper, but something to be aware of.
Love these. The fit is the same as the original Koen pant. What I wish would change: ADD MORE COLORS!!!! I have the orignial Koen pant in almost every color. The only colors I will wear in this version are the greyed blue and the black. Why can this version not also have the tan, dark and light grey, and green? PLEASE? P.S. Also, please consider making both versions with light fleece lining for winter. I can wear long underwear (and do), but it would be nicer not to.
Never have I been so happy to see an update on an old favorite. The original Koen pant is my go-to hiking and backpacking pant, but I’ve always found the ruching to be a little sloppy-looking for daily wear. These are everything I love about the Koen pant without that problem—possibly the perfect warm weather pants. I’m 5’2” and around 120-125 pounds, and I can wear both the XS and the S, but I prefer the XS so I don’t need to use the drawstring on the waist.
I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this pant! I got the Cargo Green and I was worried it would be too thin and show underwear lines, but it was OK for me. Size is good, the rise is nice, and the waistband is comfortable. I got this for travel and hiking and I need to test that out (especially in warmer weather), but I'm feeling optimistic. I'm going to get another color (black) to test it out too.
After struggling with the old version of the Koen pant (always looked a sloppy on me but I loved the ease of them), I am thrilled that they came out with this version. It's a simple, easy to put on and wear all day, pant. I do a bit of alterations - I like a high waist so I remove the waist tie (which sits weirdly low) and add a 1.5" elastic band to the top.
My favorite pants ever, since Lucy dropped their similar line. Love the fabric, fit, and style!! Only complaints are: THE BLACK IS NOT TRUE BLACK! It's a BLUE-black which is very evident when paired up with black in a shirt, jacket, shoes, etc! Can't understand why Prana hasn't caught on to this and added a standard BLACK??? Very odd!
I really love the new version of this pant that has smoother seams. I didn't care for the parachute like wrinkled seams of the past versions. Would love it in white, it is such a nice lightweight fabric for summer and would go great with summer colors. I have the silver-grey and use it in place of white for now.
Best pant I've found. Elastic wide band is so comfortable! Pants are so lightweight and dry incredibly fast. Zipper pockets! Perfect, as far as I'm concerned! My comment aside is that the BLACK color looks like a dark navy. I need them to be truly black. I will purchase once they truly are black.
