Good optics, side shields are an absolute joke.
Good optics, side shields are an absolute joke. I bought these glasses to have good protective eyewear while ski touring and mountaineering. The optics are really quite good for the price and they are very lightweight. Unfortunately, if you are buying them partly because of the side shields as I was, dont. I read some reviews that they come off easy, but I honestly didnt think it would be that bad. It is BAD. At least half of the time that I take them out of the case or a pocket, one or both of the shields pop off. At home, more of a frustration than an issue. In the mountains, its an issue. Especially with gloves on.
Great Value
The Couloir is probably one of the best values for glacier glasses in my opinion. Ive had several pairs and these were by far the most featured, and good looking for the price.
Side panels fragile
I really like them for snow sports, boating, and mountaineering, but unfortunately with sports that intense, the side pieces keep breaking. I keep them in the case in my backpack or maybe they fall off my face occasionally. I have now bought replacement side pieces twice, and they are $20! I wish each pair just came with one free replacement set. The side panels are too easily removable and often come unattached either while I'm folding them or after they fall from my head or face. The magnetic bond is weak.
Great optics, Durability is an issue.
Don’t buy these for the side shades. I’ve gone through several pairs of side shades that have all broken while I’ve been on trail. Not ideal. Sun ski will make it right but to what end. Mine glasses eventually snapped where the molding accommodates the clips for the side shades.
