[Employee of columbia] These shoes have been amazing for my training and recent finish of a trail 50k. The cushion is a good balance for the sea of oversized options out there. Just firm enough to get a stable ride and not too soft to where you feel sluggish on toe off. While the outsole is not fully lugged it worked perfectly for muddy trails, road (not catching or tripping) and everything in between. I get consistent positive comments on the aesthetic of the shoe as well. The upper has great breathability and does not allow debris through. So far I have around 150 miles on them with little signs of wear. The fit is great; offers ample toe space, midfoot capture and not too aggressive in the arch. I get blisters in my arch area from many other shoes. It does run a little long, I ended up using my same size as it allowed for more toe space but you might try sizing down a half size depending on desired fit.
I bought these shoes, with NO expectations with regards to how they would perform, AND THEY ARE WINNERS. Comfort, support, and breathability are all kicks 'butt'. The running shoe market is a crowded space, and Columbia carved a niche with these.
