Arc'teryx  Nuclei SV Insulated Parka - Women's

This is the only down jacket I’ve ever been able to climb unrestricted in — which for colder / windier weather is a big plus! All features of the jacket have held up well after a few months of use. I did tear the material a little bit on some sharp granite, but a benefit to the core loft is the material inside doesn’t leak out and it’s much easier to patch. Color is pretty and unique. Fit of the jacket is also stylish. At 5’8” 130 lbs I ordered size S and it’s a perfect fit. Most of the time I size up to M in jackets but that was not necessary for this item. I only wish this jacket was just a touch warmer,, as on really cold days it’s not enough on its own, but for almost all of the time it’s plenty warm. I seems like a great coat. I love the colour. I had to return my size small because it was enormous. I know that is the intention with a belay jacket but it is really really big! For reference I am 5'7" and 130 lbs. I haven't decided if I will reorder a smaller size. I find it frustrating that I have to return it through the mail first if I order online. We have a local store in my city but they can't take it back or exchange it for anything. I was told to mail it back and then purchase a new item after I get a refund. If I had a chance to exchange it in person I would have likely gotten a different jacket and Arcteryx would have kept my business.

I bought this for my warm winter layer. I have a Nuclei FL in size small that fits perfectly and is my favorite jacket. After reading other reviews that mentioned how roomy the Nuclei SV was, I sized down to an XS. The XS fit my body, still with room to put layers underneath, but the sleeves were too short for me, and the thin elastic at the wrist cuff slid up too easily when I reached my arms out. The hood would be great when wearing a helmet, but was too big and floppy when not wearing one. Could be a great jacket if you only wore it for belaying, but I was hoping to make it more of an all-rounder, and it just didn't work for me.

This is the best bang for your buck for a heavy insulated synthetic puff. I wear a fitted medium and a comfortable L in outwear jackets, I got this to go over everything. I was going to purchase xl so I could make sure all my other layers could fit underneath but the L worked perfectly. I'm 5'8" 165 athletic build. Also it has an outside chest pocket which my firebee does not so it's really useful. Note: most women's jackets do not have outside chest pockets so if you use that pocket a lot keep that in mind.

I love this jacket because it is very light, super warm and because it is synthetic. I can ski downhill with it without thinking that a hole would make me loose all my feather. It is somehow affordable for what it offers! The feature aside are perfect to keep your mittens and snack warm in cold weather. It keeps me warm during ice climbing as well. Again I love the fact that it is synthetic and I can wear it worry free around crampons and ice axes. Should be offer in the men as well !!

I bought this as layer to wear over all my other layers (including Goretex) at lunch breaks while ski guiding and as an emergency layer, and it is perfect. Very warm, and I like that I don't have to worry about it getting wet like I do with my down layers. It is sized for wearing over a lot of layers/jackets, so if you'd rather wear it as a stand alone jacket, then size down.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought this in September for a shoulder season climb on Mt. Baker. I searched for a reasonably priced, durable, and lightweight jacket for this purpose that would be adequate to keep me warm since I run cold! This jacket fit the bill! It runs large- I had a lot of room in an XS with layers. Love the sack it comes with for packing away in a backpack too!!!

This jacket is amazing. It is well insulated to keep you warm in all weather conditions. The fit is big. I originally ordered the women’s size small, it was way too big. I settled on the XS, although, I think I could have gone XXS. I’m 5’4, 115lbs. Love all the pockets. It does well in the rain and beads off the material. I would buy this jacket again.

I am allergic to down and have always struggled to find nice big puffy coats that aren’t down. And this one is amazing. It is big, super warm and fantastically puffy. I also love that because it’s not down I’m not super stressed about it getting a little wet here in the Pacific Northwest. Overall just super happy with it and didn’t want to take it off.

I have the lighter version of the jacket ( large measures 45”) and love it but this one is sized much much larger ( large measures 50”). The new sizing chart says chest 39” for women’s large regular fit for both versions of the jacket so sad I have to return it and there are no more mediums
