[Employee of arcteryx] I’ve owned this pants for a few months now, and I’m still loving them! They're warm, cozy, and perfect for hiking. The fabric is soft to skin and provides great insulation, keeping me comfortable on cooler days. They allow for easy movement and have deep pockets for my essentials. Plus, the fit is stylish enough for everyday wear. Highly recommend these for anyone who loves the outdoors!
LOVE THESE PANTS! The pockets are huge and can fit a lot. I think the fit is better than the original Gammas, but I still need to size up one size to be able to fit them properly. They end up being baggy towards the bottom, but I can deal with it for a decent pair of pants. I also don't need to add a base layer on warmer winter days which is great!
Two years ago I bought the lighter version of this pant in a 10. I have two new grandchildren, am back in New York, and gardening a lot outside. Loved the pockets, toughness, and attractive fit and versatility. Now bought this heavy weight version to be warmer walking and hiking and took the 12 to account for pounds gained during pneumonia. There is plenty of room for a base layer and the doublesnap waist closure works fine and has a good adjustment feature so should be good as I move more. For hourglass figure a very attractive fit and designed so well for sitting on the ground. Sturdy in 40 mile wind and dried right away when my grandson poured liquid on it in fabric experimentation. Love them.
Dear Arcteryx, Gamma MX has been my favorite pant for over a decade, I made sure I bought one in every color each time when you had it in short size like mine. I waited patiently over the years as product teams listened to customer feedback. I agree the newest edition has been disappointing in two folds 1) the secure latch is missing, only a button now. This makes it easy to come off during climbs. I noticed the men version still have the metal latch. Can we please bring them back and make them at par for women too? 2) baggy. It doesn't look as stylish anymore. If the intent is to serve broader, more universal wear then you may lose your athletic build customer base :( Please do not lose your niche market. It feels more like mainstream brand these days :(
I really love the product — it’s exactly what I was looking for — but the price tag highlights the most important feature it’s missing: air vents. For such warm pants, that’s an essential feature for the approach. In the end, I didn’t buy them because they aren’t versatile enough for the price point, which is sad. I really think there are no pants for women designed specifically for winter scrambling, ice climbing, and winter multipitches. This was my closest shot, but the money can be better invested in something cheaper.
Baggy in all the wrong places. It was agitating to have so much material flapping around my fee.t, kind of like baggy dress pants and high heels. I am 5'3, 150 lbs, I ordered a size 10 due to my previous 8s (maybe the SL version) being a little snug and missing the hook and loop snap. The snap felt itchy against my skin and the rest of the material was also itchy. The short size has always been perfect, but unless I yank these into highrise mode, the short was too long.
Second pair of these pants. The updated fit is flattering, slightly less baggy bum and flatter waistband cinch that is easier to adjust. The material is so robust, dirt brushes off and they wash really well, no shrinkage. Love the soft, fleecy inside although I usually wear long underwear underneath. Use for everything, snowshoeing, hiking, town, even eating out coz they fit so nicely. I'm 5' 4", athletic build and bought size 6 reg.
Lining is perfect for hiking in 40 - 50 degrees farenheit weather and plenty of room to wear long underwear for colder days. Four large zip pockets with lots of room for keys, ID, etc. Only negative is the very large and baggy rear, hip and thigh. I am 5 ft 10" tall, 141 lbs. Athletic build. Bought a size 10. I kept them because they are perfect for cool and cold weather hiking, but they are not flattering.
Arcteryx has changed the fit of this amazing pant. I am so disappointed. They revised the leg to be wider and fuller and there’s too much material. Even in a size 0 or 00 there is too much room in the leg. Besides the new cut of the pant, these are amazing pants. But they do not fit like they used to and I would not recommend.
The button clasp to close the pants on the waist is the worst. I've had this issue with all Gamma pants with a button. Where it lies on my stomach causes pain in both a size 0 (my usual size) and the size 2 (too big for me regardless). I wish these had no button, just stretch/elastic waist for comfortable tummy expansion.
