If you are active in cool to cold temps then this is good to have.. As for the omni-heat factor you have to sort of work for it like stay active to keep you warm if you are just standing around or sitting around then you need to go up the scale to heavyweight or arctic base-layer. if you have got insulated clothing on like insulated snow paints...coveralls then this midweight would work for you it has work for me wearing insulated clothing in 30 degree weather. now for the fit the paints are kind of form fitting but its a comfortable type of fit. the top is kinda loose fitting not to baggie just the right kinda of loose fitting for me

Worth it but size runs smaller. I’m 6-2 about 215lbs. Average build. No belly. XL is tight on shoulders. Very snug all around. If this is the design to keep you warm then accurate size. Next time I will buy XXL. Worth it! Very warm. Much better than typical cotton. Not as plastic as the 100% nylon. I have both and this product is better. Comfortable and warm. Just need a little bigger. Or lose 5lbs?

I bought this shirt a few weeks ago to wear as a baselayer shirt for some winter sport activities. I've used other Columbia products that featured Omni-Heat™ technology, and I am a true believer. The fit is spot-on and worn as a baselayer with several layers on top, I was toasty playing in the snow (at least on the top...need to work on keeping my feet warm). I'm 5'10", weighing-in around 175-180 lbs., and the medium fit just right. The large was way too large. Most Columbia products I wear a medium in, but there are some that I've needed to go up to the large. Not in this case!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the Omni-heat gear. I am a truck driver that also works on an open dock. Winter is brutal and the Omni-heat keeps me so warm. I don’t need to wear as many layers when I have the Omni-heat shirt.

I bought one shirt at a Columbia outlet store a few years ago, which languished in the back of the drawer until I took up serious bike riding. This fall I found myself repeatedly looking for this shirt as the weather turned cool. It became a "go-to" base layer combining warmth, lightness and wicking in a nearly perfect combination. When preparing for another trip to Vienna and faced with packing for variable cool-to-cold weather I realized I had the perfect solution in the one shirt. Nearly perfect except for the red color, so I remedied it with a purchase of three white shirts. I am in Vienna in windy, cold, rainy weather, wearing this base layer with a light casual shirt, congratulating myself on a brilliant solution.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I appreciate this shirt; however, the entire omni-heat feature appears somewhat gimmicky. In comparison to the long-sleeve performance shirt that I purchased, this shirt is slightly thicker, although the difference is minimal; this thickness contributes to a premium feel. I have tested this shirt outdoors to evaluate its omni-heat claims, and based on my experience, can confidently assert that it does not keep me warm in the elements by utilizing just my body heat. A jacket is necessary. However, while exercising I observed a difference. This likely due to the body heat generated from exertion activating the omni-heat technology, allowing the material to warm. Despite these points, I still appreciate the feel of the shirt and would purchase it again.

My wife and I purchased the light and mid weight versions of these and are very happy with outdoor performance. This a very good base layer, keeps me warm and breathes at the same time. It is extremely versatile I wear it when I run, or when I walk the dog, or when I need to be outside for any reason. It is thin and layers well with other clothing without causing discomfort. Only drawback is that the label does not say whether it is lightweight or mid weight (I suppose you can tell by feel) or if it is a men's or a woman's.
