Columbia  Midweight Stretch Long-Sleeve Half-Zip Base Layer Top - Men's

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am new to the hiking / backpacking scene and I had the opportunity to put this shirt's technology through the paces. Did a one day snowshoe trek at mid 30s and a three day snow camp at Rock Creek Lake Bishop, CA where the temperature dipped to the teens. The shirt kept me fairly comfortable on it own in the mid to high 30's.. it is very comfortable against the skin and looks good. I love the shirt and I highly recommend this product.

Toasty and dry. The zipper kinda bothered me though

We motorcyclists buy a lot of very expensive gear to enable ourselves to ride year round. Well, the Columbia baselayer gear eliminates that nonsense. Some guys ride around looking like the Michelin Man or wearing their summer gear but freezing. This stuff is the answer. Now I'm sure other people have known this for years but this is my first time wearing baselayers. When I start out in the morning and it's 45 degrees out but later the temp rises to 85 degrees, I'm not that uncomfortable. That's hard to quantify and very hard to put a price on. Good stuff.

Comfortable. I'd seen mention that this shirt tended to be smaller than the label size, so I bought an XL instead of the Large I would have otherwise ordered. I was not disappointed. I'm tall and the XL fits me well plus it gives me a little more sleeve length. Plus, this shirt comes with thumb holes in the cuffs - pretty much guaranteeing that the sleeves will be longer than usual. This shirt seems a bit thin for what I would have considered mid-weight, but I'm no expert. I have the heavy-weight version of this shirt on order now.

This is a great shirt and the material is beyond compare. I am 215lbs with a athletic build and the XL runs a little to tight for my liking (but it is designed to be a base layer). I wear this short a lot and have found it to be very tough and well crafted (like most things Columbia!!). That is the reason for 5 stars despite that it runs small. I can always buy a larger size If you plan to wear this over a T-shirt or another base layer then I would size up at least one, maybe two sizes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shirts are awesome, warm and comfortable. I just wear this shirt and ski jacket and I am totally warm enough. These are extremely well fitted. Initially, I purchased a large, which is what I normally wear, it was comfortable but the XL was an overall better fit for me. If I had six pack abs, probably feel a bit different. The only issue I have is seams by the thumb slots, when wearing ski gloves the Velcro snags on the seams and pulls on them. Overall, great base layer shirt.

My father is a Vietnam Veteran who has Agent Orange, lung cancer, colon cancer and stomach cancer. He's been going through his chemo and radiation treatments for a few years now. I purchased this at my local outlet store last year for Christmas. Because of the chemo it makes the patients very cold. The Omni heat retains his body heat so he stays warm during his treatments. Also, having the half zipper allows the nurse easy access to his port to insert the chemo line.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While gussets are nice in pants, I don't like them in the armpits of shirts. It constantly feels like there's material bunched up, like sleeves of a t-shirt pushed up to one's shoulders. The fabric is see-through so it feels cool when moving, unlike a cotton base layer (i.e., long johns). If you are looking for something like long johns then do NOT buy these, they serve some other purpose. The material and stitching are great, so no complaints there.
