Lower percentage of wool
Incorrect fabric description. The garment tag clearly states 47% poly, 38% wool and 15% elastane but REI description shows 53% wool, 44% poly, 3% elastane. I don't believe this is a mistake. I have been purchasing Smartwool and Ice Breaker product for years but both companies have been reducing the amount of merino wool in their garments and inject cheaper man made plastic in their finished product. This is unacceptable.
Good for Cycling
Bought for cycling even though they're meant for running. Loose enough to fit bike shorts under but not loose enough to billow in the wind. Good length—didn't restrict pedaling at all.
My new go to lower base layer for cold
Very comfy, very warm. Great fit & stretch allowing for full range of motion. The waistband is low profile & secure yet comfortable. They layer really well under the skinniest of pants I own (Fjallraven Abisko Trail Hybrid) without being painted on like typical baselayer bottoms. I'm 6' 2" tall, ~165-170lbs. & the medium provides exactly the right length for coverage down to my ankle & fits comfortably w/o the need to use the integrated drawstring at the waist. Large works as well for a bit more of a relaxed fit, but will be picking up another of the medium for my 3rd set. I've been wearing them pretty much everyday it's below ~45F outside since I got them. With these as a base & thin nylon cargos over the top I'm plenty warm mostly sedentary down into the low 20s F. Add a light weight merino tight style base under & I'm good down to around 0F w/o any binding/restriction of movement. Only complaints are the price; they can be a bit grabby to get on; & it would be great if there was a fly on them so I didn't have to undo my belt & outer layer fly & haul my entire package over the waistband to relieve myself.
Comfortable pants
Very comfortable pants. I like that the pockets have zippers.
