These were going to be my favorite pants. I bought 2 pairs because my hopes were so high! Right out of the packaging I was amazed at how well they fit, the light but stretchy material, and the pockets. I have gone rock climbing in these pants twice for each pair. The first pair has pilling on the butt where the back straps of my harness were moving along the fabric. My second pair has a hope ripped in the inner leg (which I have already sent a claim to MH for a repair) but also has pilling in the front crotch area from where my harness had rubbed. I bought a 3rd pair of the full length pants to use for hiking and I am so worried about the inner thigh pilling I will experience after wearing them and hiking. My pants look like they’ve been used for years and they’ve only been worn twice. Please please use better fabric, more durable. Mountain Hardware clothing should stand up to hard wear, not be this delicate!
One star for drying quickly, one star for the waistband. I was stoked to find a high rise hiking pant without buttons or a drawstring; the hip belt on my pack always causes either to dig into my abdomen. Unfortunately, the sizing is off - xs were too tight and s were very big. But the worst thing is how baggy these get. Two hours into a trek and I had to use paracord and my knife to create a drawstring to keep the pants up. The slightest bit of moisture (sweat, light rain) and these grow two sizes. I have the first generation of these pants and they’re amazing - bring them back!
I have the Dynama shorts and I love them so I got these to try the pants version. I like them, they are super comfy, and I like that the pockets are zippered and on the side. A big phone won't fit in them though, and if you fill your pockets, your silhouette will look funny because they're on the sides of the hips, but I don't mind that (I rather have functional and secure pockets). They're easy to slide up and down, and the fit is a bit slouchy in the front for my body. I'm 5'7'', 128 lb, 28 waist, 37 hip. The fabric seems a bit flimsy but I think it's stronger than it looks from my experience with the shorts version, we'll see how they hold up. Overall I like these so far.
The pants are very lightweight, attractive and almost flattering, and I love the blackberry color. I ordered my regular size and I found the fit very good. I actually like the very lightweight fabric because if I bring them along as an extra pair for multi-day hiking, they don't add weight to my pack, and I think they will be versatile if I need something dressier on occasion. The main negative for those of us with longer legs is the short inseam. I realize that it is the fashion right now, but I really am not fond of having an inch or two of sock showing above my ankle. The sizing chart shows the inseam as 32 for regular, and this is 27.5" in size S !! The other thing I fear, as I read the comments of others, is pilling, and bagging at the knee. I have a favorite hiking dress of the same type of fabric and am afraid this is going to pill similarly where my arms or backpack straps rub against the fabric.
These pants are one of the few I've ever liked because of their higher and super comfortable waist. Everything about this pant I love EXCEPT I can't buy them because I am a 6'0" woman and the inseam is ridiculous. I'd love Mountain Hardwear to realize there are a lot of tall women in the outdoors and we'd love to support your company but just can't because all of your women's pants are ridiculously short. C'mon guys! Get with the program and start making Tall/Long options for women's clothing! And not just a single pair of pants. Like, give us tall girls some options!
I own 3 pairs of Dynama High Waist Ankle Pants and 1 pair of regular Dynama Ankle Pants and i love them to bits. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw there were new colors out in 2025 to add to my collection. I was at first a little confused and then pretty much disheartened when I realized the newer cut (includes the color Warm Ash) was so much larger in the thigh, cut rather too high in the waist so now it sits a couple inches even higher and is longer in the seam. However the waist and calf size is still the same so it's not like i can size down. Disappointed because I want to keep buying the new shades but I do not trust the fit at all anymore.
I bought this style in the grey/slate and liked them so much I ordered them in black. Unfortunately the black was sized totally differently. When you lined them up, the thigh area was about 2” WIDER in the black pair! This is an insane difference. The black pair fit very baggy and unflattering. I ordered these within a few weeks of each other, so not different seasons or styles. I was super disappointed.
This is my second pair of these pants, and they are just as advertised. I am a short person, so they fit like long pants for me. I appreciate how light they are (I am taking 2 pairs traveling to hot climates), that they have zippered pockets, and that you don't need a belt to wear them. We older women appreciate the high rise as our non-flat bellies don't hang over the waist! I've washed them a bunch and they still look like new. I wouldn't say they are versatile enough to wear for evening, but that's the only drawback. I wish they had more blue in stock.
Comfortable (pull-on so not baggy around waist, as they don’t need a belt), good fit, high rise hits about at the waist for me (which I prefer but is hard to find in style that fits my body). Big negative is the ankle length—hate that so much that I bought two pairs—one to make into crop length so that I could use the bottom to sew on to the other pair for a natural length pant. Haven’t had them long enough to comment on how well the fabric will hold up to hiking, but they’ve been great for casual travel and walking.
These pants were way too big. I had difficulty keeping them from falling down. I wore them on flights, so could not return. I reordered in a smaller size and was much happier. The original pant did not have the inner drawstring. I reordered the pair with a drawstring. I recommend sizing down.
