I just received this backpack couple days ago and I use it this morning for a 10 mile walk and it’s pretty good I put 15 pounds on it and held in pretty good very comfortable
This bag is just what I needed. The lightweight external frame gives it structure so it doesn’t collapse when lightly packed, and the breathable back makes it comfortable on warm days. The external zipper pocket is large enough for the things needing easy access, and the internal pocket keeps less-used items neatly organized. The two external side pockets work well for my large water bottles, and the front stuff pouch works well to keep a rain jacket and baseball cap handy. The walking stick loop and strap keep mine handy, and the waist belt pockets are a good place for carrying a snack bar and mask. Overall, the bag is very well constructed.
Bought the 24L Citro pack for the ventilation system as my other 18L and 24L packs did not have a good system. Overall, ventilation good and comfortable to wear. Some negatives: - The side pocket does not fit a 1L Nalgene bottle. The pocket is deep enough, but the pocket's stretch material not wide enough to insert bottle. Also, there are no compression straps across the side pockets. - One size. Previous Gregory packs had S/M and M/L sizing. - No rain cover, but would be nice to have. I will probably keep the pack as it is better than my other packs I own, but will keep searching for a better pack.
What I like: - the size is right for a day pack - space for a hydration reservoir - hip belt pockets perfect for quick access to snacks or other items like keys or phone - breathable suspension system - comfortable to wear on long hiking days What I don’t like: - there aren’t many pockets on the bag in general and the pockets it does have are somewhat small - the water bottle pockets on the side are small and you cannot larger water bottles in them Over all this is a great bag, and I have used it on many hiking trips. There are only a couple things I don’t love about the pack. I would recommend this pack for most people unless they want outside storage on the pack for water bottles.
Super solid and comfortable daypack. Big enough to hold lots of gear but not too heavy or bulky. The internal frame and hip belt provide the structure and support to make the Citro 24 feel comfortable even on longer hikes across more challenging terrain.
I love this backpack. The grey color with some red trim looks great. Very comfortable, nice pockets, high quality. The best part is the perfect size. Enough space for a day hike or outing around town, with a little extra space. I can fit a couple of layers, food, water bottle (inside main compartment), camera and 10 essentials easily. Around town with my young son there is enough room for some of his stuff. Only small thing is I wish the main outer mesh pocket was a little larger. I can fit a rain shell but an insulated layer not quite as easily. Overall I highly recommend.
I needed this pack to be able to carry daily during scout summer camp. 3L reservoir and width necessary for a notebook I had to have with me at all times. The pack is crazy comfortable, I hardly notice it's there for the 10, 12, 14 hour days. I drink all the water (Florida, summertime heat and humidity both high 90s)as well. The pockets are great for organizing the small stuff as well...rain gear, face mask, pocket knife, lip balm, you get the idea. You won't regret having this pack (I've had it over 2 years, and use as a day bag for almost every scout trip).
Overall like the mix of features in this back, it's pretty good all around. A few things I'd change is it would be nice to have one or two of those shoulder strap pockets, I've found the hip pockets won't zip closed with just one hand, and personally I'd like it to be longer or more adjustable. I'm on the tall side and if you look at the model in the photos the waist belt is sitting a good couple inches above his waist which is where it's at for me so I have to over open the shoulder straps if I want the weight on my hips. Even then it's pretty comfortable though.
The ventilation on the back is awesome. The suspension can easily handle reasonable loads. The pack weight is great considering all the packs features. Side pockets are deep enough to hold 1 L bottles and back pocket is a perfect catch all. Only thing I do not like is the hip belt zipper. I can not close it completely with one hand and it seems like simply making the zipper straight instead of rounded would fix it. The round zipper seams like it is more for aesthetics than function.
I have used this pack for years and like everything about it. It fits me comfortably, I am 5' 11", about 175 lb. It has a nice hip belt for its small size. The compartments are adequate for my day hiking needs. I liked it so much I just bought a second one. I will use my original in Florida, where I live, and I left my 2nd one, with family, in Colorado. This way I have a nice pack for the times I am visiting family out west.
