It is awesome ! Repelled water just fine, im no longer cold outside and that is what I was looking for in a coat… the down point is that sometimes It gets stuck because is very long but hey ! Not ripping or anything so yeas I would buy this !! Also, it is thing and fits awesomely, I don’t look like a tube or anything like that… I recommend this. !!
I wanted a below-knee length coat that would keep me warm and not soak through as soon as it saw rain. Also hoped for one that would look OK too. The Prospect fits the bill. Toasty warm and really well shaped for a puffy coat, have had lots of compliments. I prefer to wear a hat than a hood so I can see better but so many hoods are too small to then put over a hat if a shower starts. This hood has plenty of room to go over a hat if needed and has plenty of adjustment with the pull cord and the snap buttons (can close them outer to outer or outer to inner IYSWIM!) I no longer dread going out in the cold and love having any excuse to wear it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super warm jacket. The slitting on the sides are great for more mobility.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am 5 feet tall, 117 lbs. struggling to find a maxi coat that does not make me look like a toddler wearing adult clothes. What j love most about this coat is that it has side pockets high and when I wear the coat, the pockets are right above my hips, which makes me look well proportioned. The coat itself is highly breathable and lightweight. I have Patagonia Silent down coat of the same size XS and I think this Marmot is more breathable and equally warm. The design with zippers near at the bottoms allow me to walk freely in high snow. I wore it in 29F today and I feel toasty. Hope it keeps me warm in oF
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After a long search for a replacement for a beloved mid-calf, warm winter coat, I finally found the Prospect coat. The simple design, warmth factor, and lack of a glaring logo made this a no-brainer for me. It finally got cold enough last night to wear for the first time, and I was out with the dog in 20 degree weather and 25 mile an hour winds and was toasty and happy! The side zippers will come in handy when hiking with tall winter boots on, and the extra protection that the hood provides when snapped will eliminate the need for a scarf or gator. For reference, I am 5'7" and 125 lbs. I have broad shoulders and long arms, and the Medium fits well without any added bulk. Highly recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in minnesota and winters here can be no joke. this coat has made my life so much better because i dont cringe at the thought of walking outside anymore. its perfectly puffy but still stretches enough to move around. i dont have issues with the zipper that others have mentioned. they must have improved it. the pockets are big enough to stuff my large iphone and sizable mittens into. the hood is so warm but also not obstructive or restrictive. the little sleeve lining things at the wrists are a delightful material and well sized. i only wish i would have bought this jacket sooner!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received this coat and I would love to keep it for the following reasons: color (purple fig) is a rich color that doesn't show stains much and isn't the usual black or blue. Cut even in XL is flattering, not like so many others that look like you slipped into a sleeping bag. Quality is great and the additional side zippers are so handy for car rides for extra room (also it has the double front zip). The hood is detachable and is comfy open and closed and the additional flap shields from cold winds. I love all that! Big But though: the pockets. Feel bit like Napoleon. In XL they sit so high, my shoulders actually are raised a bit, it isn't relaxing or practical. Zipping up is really awkward and leaving them unzipped makes the chest part look even bigger, especially looking at it from side. I so hope they drop the pockets down next winter and I'll be the first to buy it, even full price! It is a bit snug in the shoulders on me due to the feminine cut, so offering a XXL would be advised in my opinion (I am 5'6" and 193 lbs).
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After that brutal December blizzard, the dog got booties and mama got a new coat. It has performed very well in Iowa in minus 11 with 40 mph winds, heavy wet snow, sleet, and light rain. My jacket was okay but I didn’t want to add pants or bibs to take the dog out. I chose the 45” Prospect because the 38” Chelsea lacked an interior pocket and the 40” Montreaux wasn’t windproof. I like 800 fill and this matte fabric, no noisy gortex. I read all reviews noting fit, zippers, pockets, snaps, and stains. I agree the coat feels snug in the upper chest and arms (compared to my jackets). No zipper or stain issues ever (my 5th Marmot since 2011). Hood snaps are a bit tricky, but a thumb under each side, before gloves, is working. And I prefer snaps over Velcro lint. On pockets, I agree they look odd placed so high up on the chest. The picture shows the 8 ½ prospect welt pocket next to a 6 ½ in pocket. I’m adjusting to using them but dropped a star as I think they need to be re-evaluated. Wish I’d had this coat when I commuted and traipsed around campuses. It’s warm and comfortable.
This coat was a Christmas gift for my wife and she was totally surprised by it and says it is the warmest coat she now owns. She is 5’ 3” and the fit is perfect! Loves the color I chose also!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I read a review about this coat that said “if you’re thinking about buying this, just do it”, and after months of searching for the “perfect” winter coat, I found it. By far my favorite purchase. I am originally from Florida and can’t handle the cold at all, so I bought this coat and decided to test it out at a football game in Michigan while it was snowing. Only had a tank top and a sweatshirt underneath it and I was the warmest person at the tailgate. Just like the person who’s review I read before, if you’re considering buying it, just do it. You won’t regret it!
