I demoed a pair on a 5k feet, 10 miles technical route involving a steep scramble and a rooty, rocky descent. The following comparisons are relative to Speedgoat, not the same category - granted, but popular. Grip is excellent, and the narrower and stiffer base make it more precise for scrambling. It felt softer though than the atrocious S/Lab from a few years ago. Running the descent was very safe, no predisposition to rolling ankle. The one negative is they’re slower to dry, water was still sloshing an hour later. Recommended.
Shoes took a few miles to break in but once they did they really made a believer out of me! They are very stable on technical trails and I loved how I could go from a mid-foot jog to up on my toes at pace! Equally surprising is, they felt good on the road. The lugs do not push into your foot. Grip with the Conti rubber is good wet or dry and they are not overly soft that they will wear quickly. Ultimately, these are a solid bomb proof trail shoe that will last for many miles!
I've had these for a few weeks now and they've already become one of my everyday shoes, not just for runs or hikes. The fit is true to size and they're comfortable from the first wear, no break-in period needed. The cushioning feels great on long days on my feet, and they've held up well so far with regular use.
I have dabbled with hokas and on clouds for the past couple years after solely purchasing Salomon’s for about 10 years. Salomon seem to hold up better and provide the right balance of comfort and support.
I bought to replace my old sense ride. Great shoe, perfect for gravel trails. The fit is a little too narrow so need to buy the wider pair or go up half a size: the wide fit only comes in black.
My normal go to shoe is the Speed cross, gore text. Because of durability and water resistant, but the genesis has proven that plus comfort and being very little weight. Excellent shoe thanks
This shoe looks great and was comfortable right out of the box. It is lightweight and perfect for light trials and suburban jungles. I highly recommend taking a look at this shoe.
I researched these shoes specifically looking for a shoe that fits a "D" width. Unfortunately the toe box is too tight across the foot, making it uncomfortable.
Once the shoe begins to conform to your feet after a short break in period my confidence level helped me to feel more agile on technical terrain.
I don't know why Salomon insists on making such narrow shoes, my feet are not even wide. Not much room in the toebox
