A very well thought out pack for a day in the side or back country. The pack feels sturdy and includes many small details to ensure you have a great day on the mountain and wont have you feeling like you are fighting with your gear. My favorite detail is the that zippered compartment for avi gear has a sewn expansion at the bottom meant to receive your shovel's post so that it stays in place and does not awkwardly stretch the pouch (hard to describe but trust me, it just works). The two way zipper on the main compartment is nice and will make gear access easy without unloading and repacking (the pulls are long enough to be useable with gloves on). The helmet pouch works with a wide range of helmet sizes and styles and packs away discretely when not needed (and when in use, it does not block the avi gear pocket). There are not too many dangling straps or loops that could get caught on a ski lift which is great for inbound days. The chest pocket is convenient and flexible, but will not easily fit larger size phones (my 17 Pro fit snugly). The bag holds my essentials comfortably, and I could see using it equally for sidecountry excursions or a full backcountry day. The straps are comfortable and did not create any noticeable pressure points even with skis attached. The main drawback I found was that the main and top zippered compartments can be difficult to open and close completely with skis in an A frame configuration. Fortunately, the avi gear pocket is fully accessible and the zipper is a different color to identify it. If you are packing extra gear for the whole group or family I would look for something bigger. A solid recommend from me.
