Great tent, very spacious inside for a family of 4 plus loads of extras. In reality could sleep 8 if we remove all the equipment. Rock solid, front vestibule did move slightly in force 7 winds, but it was never in any trouble. Biggest surprise was how cool the tent was inside, ventilation really works well. Only downside is that the groundsheet does not cover the front and back porch. It should cover the entire area of the tent.
I love this tent! I wish my wife felt the same way as I do. She doesn't like the low ceiling in the back part of the tent. She wishes it was the same height as it is up front. However, the Rain Fly is terrific! It is thicker than any tent out there and the Guy lines are the best. It's a 4-Season tent and we put it through the "Test" at The Grand Tetons in May of 2021. That first night, it was really cold and snowed heavily. We didn't know that until the following morning. We were toasty through out the night and the wind didn't budge the tent. I didn't know that it snowed until I went outside the following morning. The snow just slid off the Rainfly with ease. Inside, the tent was "bone dry". The Vestibule is quite nice and has good height. I wish Big Agnes would add one just like this to some of their other tents.
I bought this tent believing that the fact you're charging twice what your competitors are for an 8 person car camping tent would make it a better tent. I've never felt so let down by a brand I trusted. The first time we put it up to test it out before our trip 1 of the main cross piles bent. My wife bent it, following the instructions to a T. She maybe 130lbs on a bad day. Then my wife took it on a 9 day camp trip and the second day one of the vestibule poles snapped in the wind. It was in a protected area and the wind didn't even surpass 10 mph that day. The energy splint that was provided is useless, it's to diameter is to wide to stay snug over the snapped section even when under tension, and it's too short in length to stay put. This tent is a hot mess, Big Agnes you're a disappointment. What happened to you.
This is not a mountaineering tent. The poleset is completely inadequate for the weight and size of the tent. I had to replace 8 segments after the first trip. BA didn't even consider to warranty it. At no time did the tent experience any significant snow or wind loads. I wouldn't even consider this an acceptable car camping tent.
We haven't used the new tent, but did set it up. Looks a lot like our Flying Diamond 8 we had for 10+ years, but many improvements! Warranty was fast and precise and a great experience. You've kept a loyal customer happy
I have been waiting for my dream tent It took about an hour to set up and look over the ins and out. I feel confident about being protected from the elements. Big Agnes products are awesome I also have battle mountain 3
Set up is easy after the first time. The tent is spacious but lower profile.
